how exactly do these leagues work? I'm a bit confused on the mechanics of the whole thing. I've had experience with PBEM gaming in the past, is it somthing similar to that?

personally i find this kind of league a lot more fun, just cuz you have the ability to go into comish mode and look at players that way and such.

basically what happens is there is a messageboard where you post things such as your lineup, rotation, strategies, expenses, minors etc,, and the comish inputs this all into a master mog file and then sims a period of time, usually two weeks, three times a week.

In between you bid on free agents that you see available in the game, whoever has the highest bid after a set amount of time (usually 24 hrs) wins that player at that contract. but when you resign players you do it through the game and tell the comish how you got so and so to sign to whatever amount.

usually a two round live draft either in a chatroom or on the board with the last 4 being auto-picked buy the computer.

You definitely spend more time on one of these leagues then the online ones but its much more rewarding imo.
