I do not know if anyone has come across this but a ton of free agent pitchers have lofty ERA's. I have attached Roger Clemens who shows that he has started 4 games in 2-0, has pitched 4.2 innings and has given up 10 earned runs without allowing a hit or a walk
In addition, the play by play still has some errors. I had a game where the bases were loaded two out in the bottom of the eighth inning and the center fielder made an error and two runs scored. The pitcher was charged with two earned runs.
I have also seen where a pitcher will receive a loss for a game when he has relieved a pitcher with runners on and then he gives up the game winning hit.
