When I try to get into the game, after double-clicking the icon, I get this huge "Sports Mogul" screen and the game screen behind it. When I click the red x on the big screen, the whole game disappears.
I have removed, unstalled the game, and the re-installed, same problem. Changed my screen size, same problem. I attached a screen shot. Any assistance would be great.
Thanks,
Craig

looks like there is a problem with your system and not the game.
You have windows xp, what other software are you running when this happens...also what do you do before, where is your game located...
What machine are you running
example "intell p4 with HT 3.2, 512ram, 60gig harddrive, graphics card?...ect.
what os are you using,
xp home sp1, or sp2
xp pro sp1 or sp2
xp media center, (which version 2005?)

Thanks.
I have XP SP2
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz 2399 MHz
512mb
NVIDA GeForce4 MX440
I'm running Kaspersky Security Suite - A/V firewall
Counterspy
HP digital imaging monitor
And your usual start-up stuff - although only the stuff you really need and not all that garbage they stick on your system,

maybe try turning off your anti-virus while you try to play the game.
What happens when you try to turn the game on?
try waiting untill the screen turns on...also.....
try rebooting your system, then restarting...

could you take another screen shot with the title bar visible of the window on top please.
Does anyone else get multiple baseballs running around on the screen like that? I only get one.

I'd recommend pulling that 'big logo screen' to where you can click on the X to close it and see what happens... (should shut close the entire game, but never know)
You should be able to hit N to start a new game, and R to resume a game even if that screen if goofed up. Maybe it works ok after that?

I get multiple baseballs. That was a feature.

I tried the stop A/V then play the game - no dice, tried the complete remove, reboot, etc.
I think I found the culprit - When the game begins, the "how to play" text thing shows up with the baseball mogul entire TOC and index, then right after that the big screen shows up.
Yep, click the red x and the game disappears.
You close the text index and big screen still is on the screen, so you know what happens next.
I never had any of these problems with 06. I got this as a gift - it was the CD. I'm not sure if they have found problems with people who got the game from the CD.. sometimes there are bugs on those babies.
Thanks for assistance all.:D

take it back to the store and try, if you have a gift receipt....if you can get a refund, try the download...or even ship it back to Clay to get a refund...of course you have to pay for shipping...:(

have you tried patching the game? manually, if need be...
oh, and you should check to see if your video and directX drivers are all up to date.

Drivers are updated..but thanks!
I contacted Clay by e-mail with the screenshots and my problem. Never heard back from him.
Sigh. Thanks anyway for the help. Can't take it back, I live 3000 miles away from the store. :(

humm
well, one thing that i've been wondering about is what the heck that big downward pointing arrow icon is...
anyway, re-reading what you've written earlier you were talking about the "how to play" help screen coming up. you could try navigating to the folder that the game is installed in and renaming the help file (I can't remember what it's acutally named, but it's a .chm file).
oh, and
You should be able to hit N to start a new game, and R to resume a game even if that screen if goofed up. Maybe it works ok after that?
that's a good idea.

Thanks for the idea. I just tried it. The help text box disappears, but that big "screen" still shows up, and you hit x and the whole game disappears. Oh, I tried the "N" no avail. I think the game has a bug in it. Sigh, I wish Sports Mogul would just give a me a link to download a new game or email me a new game..i have the license..but i guess that is not an option to them.
Oh the "down arrow" is when I used my screenshot software, the mouse was there, so it switched it to the down arrow. Basically it means nothing.

ok, lets quit messing around with this. You're probably going to have problems regardless of weather your using the CD or download version because it appears to me to be a driver issue. here's some things that you should do:
Regardless of weather your video card drivers are updated or not, get the latest unified driver from nVidia (http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp) and reinstall it.
Fix any issues with DirectX. Baseball Mogul doesn't use DirectX, but because of the way that DirectX is designed it can affect your system.
The DirectX Diagnostic Tool (Dxdiag.exe) is installed with DirectX and can be run by clicking Start, clicking Run, and then typing dxdiag.
There are a bunch of things that Dxdiag will report to you. Just run it, and post any problems that it reports to you and we'll work from there.

I doubt it is a driver issue. I play games that have higher punch then baseball mogul. I will run the dxdiag and get back to you on it. I ran system mechanic and saw nothing.
As for Clay, I emailed the guy, not sure how else you can get direct, without calling him. And frankly at that point it is not worth it. Funny thing is that 2006 works fine.

Ran it, no problems found on anything - direct x, drivers, sound, every tab on there..no problems.

well now that there is .42 out, you can try that and see if the changes fix the problem

We tried to provide a fix for this issue with 9.42. The "Dialog Size" setting is now stored in the MogFame.dat file in your Baseball Mogul 2007 installation. So after installation 9.42, delete MogFame.dat and this should eliminate the giant opening screen.
If that doesn't work, you can press the 'Scroll Lock' button on the opening screen to reset the dialog size to the default setting.

hello!
i got the same big screen problem. i bought the game (mogul 2006) at big lots for 4$ and it worked just fine. for 2 days. i then got some of those annoying updates that sometimes show up when you're not looking and least need them. as usual they slowed down my game. they install when i shut down the computer. next time on the big screen problem showed up. i only got to play the game twice but i like it so far. i sure hope someone is working on this.
i have found that you can get past that over size splash screen. then from the menu bar, you can get some other screens, many of which have the same problem! the get around is to press enter or press tab 1 or more times then enter. this will close the big sceens.
joe :( :(
