Mets in Abilene [Fixed 9.42I]

Because of the known error in putting the expansion mets in Abilene where they draw about 5,000 per game and go spectacularly in debt, I decided to edit my latest sim effort (51 Red Sox) in the league editor after the mets first disastrous season. Winter of 62-63, I went to the editor to change the Mets location from Abilene to New York City.

Guess what, sports fans?? There was no New York City on the pulldown! When the game tries to create the Mets in New York City, it can't find it and must default to Abilene.

I haven't played a sim beginning in 1901, but what happens when the Baltimore Orioles become the New York Highlanders??

Maybe this is the glitch.

That's because the city editor has the boroughs of New York city, and not the city itself. The Mets should go to "Queens." You'll see the Yankees are in "Bronx."

you're probably correct, but who knows. Doesn't matter, Clay said he was gonna fix it.
To fix it yourself right now, put them in Queens. Although to be technically correct, they should play the first...two seasons? in the polo grounds, if I remember correctly, which would be in Manhattan.

I have, Boston becomes the New York Highlanders correctly; placed in Manhattan. Then they do correctly become the Yankees and they are correctly located in the Bronx.

No, he's right. Hilltop Park (1903-'12) was around Broadway & 166th and the Polo Grounds ('13-'22; Mets in '62 & '63) around 155th & the Harlem River.

Sheesh. I just stuck them in newark and built a park for them called the Newark City Dump.

Don't laugh, they drew 68,000 fans per game and made 160 megabucks their first year in Newark anfter bombing in Abilene.
