View Full Version : biased against the A's?

I have been simming along with the A's for a change of pace/challenge, but it seems like no matter how good a team I manage to put together, the best they ever finish in mid-80s in wins. Here, for example, are my lineups and pitching staffs right now: (my scouting is +/- 2):

LF 94
CF 90
SS 94
RF 92
1B 91/92
DH 93
3B 93
C 93
2B 78

SP - 90, 93, 88, 82/88, 81/88 RP- 86, 86, 81/85, 77, 85/88, 86/88

So why does a team like this (and comparable teams I've had) finish under .500 most years? This is the ninth season with the team, and most years I've got a similarly talented team, yet the average season is 79-83 and my best has been 88-74. Based on sims I've done in the past, I should be one of the best teams in the league. Its frustrating as ****. Is BBM 2007 just harder than its been in the past, or what?

What difficulty level you playing on? Also, the personality stuff can impact performance I think. And it could just be really really bad luck.

well... That kindof depends. In terms of overall's, the team that you listed seems fairly average, to me. It's hard to say what the problem is with the little bit of info that you've provided, so tell us what do you think the problem is? What's your team ERA and BA compared to the rest of the league?

Only if you turn the effect up, or the players have really bad compatability problems.

Well, at 0% personality does affect performance. it's affect can just be decreased or increased by adjusting the percentage in the league editor. -100% is the only way to make performance completley ignore personality/happiness.

The problem, I guess, seems to be that, in my past experience, a team with those sort of ratings would perform far better. I don't really think that the team's ratings, as listed, are "fairly average" at all - I should easily be one of the better teams in the league, judging from a cursory look at the ratings of some other teams. Looking at my "pitching rating" in the standings screen, I'm rating a 93 - the league average is 85 - yet my team ERA is 5.05, and the league average 4.77. My batting rating is also 93, with a league average of 86, yet my team OPS is .774, against a league average of .768.

Not that I really think the game is biased against the As or anything, but this has just been a really weird, fluky, frustrating run for me with the team, and past experience has told me this should team should be much better now, and should have been much better in previous seasons as well. I guess a run of really bad luck is all I can attribute it to.

I can't really tell based on the information provided, but i'm willing to bet that there's some key component that is missing. a setup pitcher, dedicated closer, power hitting, contact hitting, a true leadoff hitter... something.

the field you play at can make a difference too(not a big one but still)

example: try sticking a bunch of high power low contact hitters in RFK.
