This point was brought up in the 9.42K patch thread. I figured it was a fairly major problem, so I gathered some evidence and decided to make a new thread for it.

Take a look at some complete game figures for the past three real-life baseball seasons.

2005
# of pitchers with 5 or more complete games: 3
# of pitchers with 2 or more complete games: 52
Leaguewide # of complete games: 189

2004
# of pitchers with 5 or more complete games:6
# of pitchers with 2 or more complete games: 35
Leaguewide # of complete games: 150

2003
# of pitchers with 5 or more complete games: 7
# of pitchers with 2 or more complete games: 49
Leaguewide # of complete games: 209

Now, take a look at one sim using my updated rosters:

2006 Sim
# of pitchers with 5 or more complete games: 20
# of pitchers with 2 or more complete games: 121
Leaguewide # of complete games: 437

Now, I'm going to run 5 more sims of 2006 and average the numbers.

5-year Averages
# of pitchers with 5 or more complete games: 24.6
# of pitchers with 2 or more complete games: 111.4
Leaguewide # of complete games: 432.4

Hopefully this gives you some idea of how much to turn down CG's, Clay. It needs to be done.

This is just a suspicion, but I think all starters are staying in games way to long with 9.42K, like after getting shelled for 11 runs over the course of 8 innings.

The poster who mentioned this also said that.

Clay, it all needs to be fixed, hopefully by the next patch.

good work there Houston. I'm willing to bet that it'll get fixed pretty quickly.

Don't you guys think that complete games should be a little higher in real life than they are in Mogul. It's only over the last 10 years, that the complete game has nearly completly vanished from baseball. I found out how you can adjust the number of complete games in Mogul. Here is what I did to increase the number of complete games, I guess if you did the opposite it would reduce them. I am using Houston’s rosters, but I think Mogul calculates the # of complete games off of the file called "pitching" in the players folder, which is located in the input folder. Now, in order to increase the number of CG's, I started a new spreadsheet with the following headings: Player name in column 1, games in column 2, games started in column 3, and complete game in column 4. Actually, instead of going into too much details trying to put into words what I did, I attached the spreadsheet that I used. Once you have the spreadsheet completed, go to import stats, find the what you named the spreadsheet, and select the appropriate stats you want to import. Make sure you write to predicted stats, which you select at the bottom of the import stats dialog. Like I said, this worked to increase the number of complete games, but I don't know if you could decrease them any further. I'll give it a shot and let you guys know what happens. I probably just confused the **** out of you guys, but take a look at the spreadsheet and I think you will understand what I did. You'll have to unzip it though, b/c I couldn't figure out how to post the spreadsheet in its current format.

Hope this helps,
Dave

I'd rather it just be adjusted in the game itself. I know Clay did, and it was mostly fixed up until recently, and its back to being completely out of whack.
