View Full Version : The Washington D.C. Rattlers for Great Justice

Once upon a time.... in a galaxy far far away... ...
or rather, not so far away.
In a new league, the Washington D.C. Rattlers set up shop and get ready for action and a battle to the death, and by death I mean paying $30 watching a bunch of guys hit and toss balls around.
Sanji Watsuki takes the manager position and gets ready for battle. His goal? World domination. It starts with a baseball team, then a baseball stadium, then the suburbs, THEN THE AREA SURROUNDING THE SUBURBS! One step at a time the world would grow to learn and fear his name, but for now they would just ridicule him for his poor coaching skills and possibly ground breaking moves, and by ground breaking I mean literally destroying the ground they walk on and make them all fall into a large pit.
If you understood anything of what I say you need to get out more.

SS Dean Lewis
CF Oscar Norello
AAA (Crowd is catching its breath)
RF Phillip Crase
Notes: Poor player, not worth keeping around.
CF Glenn Peterson
Notes: Already has outstanding speed on the bases but has the potencial to put up big offensive numbers in the future.
3B Ramon Sibrian
Notes: Currently a superior 3B than our current lineup player, however we want to keep him in AAA until his skills develop a bit more. Expect to see him playing everyday by next year.
1B Karl Samuel
Notes: Decent all around player but far inferior to our current 1B.
AA
1B Stephen Shaffer
Notes: Projected to be a very powerful run producer in the future.
LF Jason Cook
Notes: Excellent defensively and will turn out to be an excellent hitter that can hit for power and contact.
C Kyle Britt
Notes: Has the potencial to be our starting catcher in a few years.
RF Joaquin Linda
Notes: Has an excellent eye for the ball. Should turn out to be a decent power hitter in the future.
1B Zach Stevens
Notes: Not even a serviceable bench player. Possible spy for the F.B.I., will look into it later.
1B Rodney Theriault
Notes: No problems defensively but he has a poor eye and is slow on the baselines. Should become a fair power hitter.
CF Roger Dawson
Notes: He is still quite green but when he hits his peak should tear up the baselines and smash the ball out of the park often.
A
OF Tom Limond
Notes: Most likely will become an average player all around. I project him to be a bench player for us in the future.
1B Ted Chappell
Notes: Excellent defensively. Only time will tell for his offense though.
SS Felipe Feria
Notes: Almost as average as they can get. 70 all around. Should turn into an excellent well rounded player.
RF John Pickering
Notes: He will mostly likely be trade bait in the future.
DL
SS Arto Halais
DL: 215 days
Notes: Should become a serviceable infielder once he gets off the DL.
OF Phil Wilcock
Notes: Excellent outfielder, excellent contact hitter, excellent base stealer, and he is on the DL. Those people at the United Nations are up to this...
In the next episode of D.C. Rattlers!...
Sanji's favorite socks go missing and he blames the president!

PITCHING OVERVIEW
And the crowd goes wild.
Staff Ace
Ever Migoya
An excellent pitcher that will hold my foes to a few runs every game. Ever has much room to improve and will become even more dominating.
The Rest
Nat Mandlin
An excellent control pitcher. We are hoping for the best after his 7-14 record last year with 4.82 ERA.
Eric Gaines
Definitely on the downturn of his career. Put up a near 7 ERA last year. We will be looking on the free agent market for someone to help replace him in this sad pitching rotation.
David West
A power pitcher that needs far more movement on his breaking ball. He DOES have a good future ahead so we will look for a serviceable pitcher to replace him in the rotation and will let him build up his skills in the AAA.
Max Moon
A far more rounded pitcher than David but still needs more farm time.
The Bullpen
(Thunder roars)
Closer
Tim McCammond
Armed with a 92-94 MPH fastball and a slider with simply NASTY movement on it he has done extremely well for us and has put up a sub 2 ERA every year we've had him.
Setup
Samuel Negre
While he has a 97 MPH fastball and has put up a sub 3 ERA last year he definitely needs a breaking pitch.
Short Relief
Craig Arnold
Excellent control pitcher but hitters have eaten up his breaking balls that just don't break.
Brian Shrum
He is a 28 year old rookie that also has extremely nasty stuff on his slider. Combined with a 93-95 MPH fastball he will hopefully be lights out for us.
Middle Relief
Albie Kramer
Albie has a great future as a closer but it definitely isn't here yet. We will try and find someone to replace him until he matures.
Long Relief
Wil Smith
Great control on his on pitchers and he has a devastating Knuckle Curve but batters have been seeing it and hitting it well.
The Minors
AAA
SP Anton Wales
Notes: Career minor leaguer at best
RP Nat Kosey
Notes: Has been tried multiple times at the big leagues and has failed miserably every time.
RP Jim Scotts
Notes: By next year he should be a reliable relief pitcher.
SP Brian Smyth
RP Despard Greg
RP Craig Willetts
RP Greg McLaughlin
Notes: Career minor leaguer at best
SP Scragg Kyle
Notes: Has been in the big leagues for two seasons and has put up a 5.82 career ERA.
RP Mike Soule
Notes: Has a chance at seeing the majors by the end of the year but his 6.59 ERA through 70IP isn't going to help him.
AA
SP Paul Peiper
Notes: He has the potencial to be a staff ace in the future. Currently has a nice developing 12-6 curve and hard slider.
SP Rafael Estillo
Notes: Also has the potencial to be a staff ace. Currently he has had trouble getting his breaking balls to actually break so hitters have been eating up his slider and splitter.
RP Zach Drowning
Notes: Expected to be a pretty nice piece of bullpen in the future.
A
SP Cesar Vizcarondo
Notes: GREAT stuff on his 100-102 MPH fastball but he has had control problems. Once he gets his problems patched up he will blow his fastball past most hitters.
RP Ken Adams
RP Carlos Tommes
Notes: Fastball touches 100mph but he also has had control problems and needs a pitch other than his fastball.
DL
RP Lyle Gayle
215 days
Notes: He has everything he needs to be a good relief pitcher but he just can't get it together.
RP Ryan Tolbert
25 days
Notes: He is on the old side (age 38) but has given us many shutout innings over the years and will continue to be a great relief pitcher.
SP Jim Tolerton
90 days
Notes: Excellent prospect but he needs more endurance to be an effective SP.

A little red dot hopped on my shoulder today. It was a mean little red dot and it meant business which quickly became appearant because it shouted into my ear, "YOU NEED BETTER STARTING PITCHING." The little dot's name was "Problem" and I had the feeling that A LOT of them would cop up over the next few weeks.
I hauled my butt over to the free agency and see what was in stock and on sale. As I browsed through the player I saw GASP! MILK ON SALE! As tempting as the offer was I decided not to stock up on milk and that I needed to find a starting pitcher or two. I picked up three pitchers, stuffed them in my grocery bag, and headed over to the checkout counter.
The first item they scanned was "Kiyomori Toyama," a starting pitcher from Tokyo and for only 4 million! This well rounded pitcher that averaged 6 and a half innings last year was a bargain and I quickly accepted a 5 year contract.
The second item they rang up was a "Thad Justice," a starting pitcher. Oh how I loathe justice... anyway he had a poor record but definitely had the tools needed to have a wonderful time. His fastball was brutal and his palmball as well. 2.2 million was a steal.
The last item was a prospect named "Hans Atkinson". He had the room to improve into a pitcher that no team would refuse. I signed him up for a 1 year contract.
I walked next door to the non-pitching free agency and I saw an adorable "Brett Simonsen", an extremely quick contact hitter going for a half a million dollars for 1 year! I couldn't resist.
Current Pitching Rotation
1) Kiyomori Toyama
15-10 3.79 ERA
2) Thad Justice
7-14 5.57 ERA
3) Ever Migoya
Rookie
4) Nat Mandlin
7-14 4.82 ERA
5) Eric Gaines
8-16 6.40 ERA
Hans Atkinson to single-A.
Now after signing these 4 free agents I decided that a payroll drop was in order and went to see who was in the market for our best slugger, Enrico Fernandez. Last year he put up a .274 avg with 27 home runs. The Bronx Black Roses had a fairly poor batting lineup and needed Enrico's extra oomph in their lineup and gave us one of their top pitching prospects, Cesar Lejzala.
Black Roses get...
Enrico Fernandez
Rattlers get...
Cesar Lejzala
Cash considerations
Extensions
Nat Mandlin
3 year extension at 2.5mil
Gordon Procter
4 year extension at 3.65mil
Brett Simonsen
3 year extension at 500k

April 4-7
Miami Mustangs (0-0) @ Washington D.C. Rattlers (0-0)
Game 1
Kiyomori Toyama (0-0) vs. Mike Miracle (0-0)
Kiyomori gives up a homerun to Vince Kunkle after walking a batter in the 3rd inning to score the first runs of the ball game but the Rattlers strike back as Eric McUre gets an RBI double to make the score 2-1. Miami scores another run with the bases loaded in the 4th and score 2 more runs in the 6th. And like a foul taste the Rattlers strike back again tying the game at 5 in the 6th thanks to Jamie Fennone. Craig Arnold came in the 7th and gives up yet another run but it means naught as in the same inning Washington's batters come through and score 3 runs! The Rattler's bullpen holds then to no runs for the rest of the game as Washington scores 2 more to end the game.
Final Scores: 10-6, Rattlers
WP: C. Arnold (1-0)
LP: P. Hunt (0-1)
SV: S. Negre (1)
Game 2
Thad Justice (0-0) vs. Nick Cudmore (0-0)
Thad Justice gave up no earned runs through 6 innings but his defense gave up 2 runs in the scoreless game in the 6th. Oscar Norello's RBI single and Bruce Waterston's RBI single tied up the ballgame in the 7th inning but that wasn't the big news. Gordon Procter starts a rally in the 8th with an RBI single that was followed by a walk and then Bruce Waterston's grand slam homerun!
Final Score: 8-2, Rattlers
WP: S. Negre (1-0)
LP: J. Punentac (0-1)
Game 3
Ever Migoya (0-0) vs. Sam Voigt (0-0)
Scoreless for 4 innings until Migoya gave up 2 singles then back to back homeruns to make it 4-0 then in the 7th inning gives up yet another homerun, this time scoring 3. The Mustangs keep the Rattlers scoreless.
MUSTANGS WIN: 9-0
WP: S. Voigt (1-0)
LP: E. Migoya (0-1)
Notable Injuried People
Prescott Torrey of the Toronto Terriers sprains his knee and is out for 2 weeks. He is an integral part of their relief pitching staff and they hope he makes a quick recovery.
Gustavo Rodriguez (1B) of the Oakland Firemen is out on a stretched ankle ligament.
Brad Brown (CF) of the Washington Tide is out on a pulled groin.
Greg Henry (RP) of the Bronx Black Roses is out with some mild shoulder separation.
Unconditional Releases
The Los Angeles Launchers release four of their backup players, all of which have been taken up by greedy teams already.
Updates
Bruce Waterston has gone 7 for 12 this year with 2 homeruns, one being a grand slam. His overall is a bit lower than Enrico Fernandez, whom I traded and Waterston was simply filling the gap, but this year Enrico is going 1 for 11. I hope the trend continues.
Ramon Siberian will replace Steve Coldiron in the lineup as he has improved to the point where it would be a stupid decision to keep Coldiron there.
We also signed Tom Nagel (C) from free agency for 3.65mil. He will take over as our main catcher and is a defensive and offensive improvement.

April 8-10
Atlanta Avalanche (1-2) @ Washington D.C. Rattlers (2-1)
Game 1
Nat Mandlin (0-0) vs. Gary Remmel (0-0)
Nat Mandlin pitched beautifully giving up only 2 runs through 8 innings. Gary Remmel I can't say the same as he gives up 8 runs in the 6th inning including a 3 run homerun from Eric McUre.
RATTLERS WIN: 11-3
WP: N. Mandlin (1-0)
LP: G. Rummel (0-1)
Game 2
Eric Gaines (0-0) vs. Leon Maceira (0-0)
Despite new catcher Tom Negel's homerun in the second Eric Gaines eventually gave up 4 runs in 7 innings and Washington's offense couldn't come back to win it.
AVALANCHE WIN: 4-3
WP: L. Maceira (1-0)
LP: E. Gaines (0-1)
SV: L. Goad (2)
Game 3
Kiyomori Toyama (0-0) vs. Mark Cant (0-1)
Toyama's pitching failed us again as he gives up 6 runs in 5 innings but if that wasn't bad enough our bullpen didn't come forth and Kramer gave up 3 runs on 9 pitches.
AVALANCHE WIN: 9-8
WP: M. Cant (1-1)
LP: K. Toyama (0-1)
SV: L. Goad (3)
Notable Injured People
Adrian Burton of the New York Victory is out for 2 weeks. He has pitched very well this year.
Brett Steiger (LF) of the San Francisco Silver Stars is out with a broken finger.

April 11-13
New York (2-4) @ Washington D.C. Rattlers (3-3)
Game 1
Luis Valencia (1-0) @ Thad Justice (0-0)
Thad Justice makes another excellent pitching performance as he gives up 2 runs in 7 IP. The bats definitely came through this game with Alsarin, McUre, and Procter all hitting extra base hits one after the other in the 2nd inning. Ramon Siberian hits a solo homer in the 6th to give us the lead after being tied. Eric McUre also makes another scoring point in the game hitting an RBI single in the 8th to help them to another victory, and may there be 161 more (even if it isn't likely.)
RATTLERS WIN: 5-2
WP: T. Justice (1-0)
LP: L. Valencia (1-1)
SV: T. McCammond (1)
Game 2
Benji Wilson (0-1) @ Ever Migoya (0-1)
Migoya puts up another excellent pitching performance as he gives up 1 run through 8 whole innings! Jamie Fennone scored the first run of the ballgame in the 4th inning with an RBI single and was quickly followed by Greg Shearer's 2 run homer in the 5th.
RATTLERS WIN: 4-1
WP: E. Migoya (1-1)
LP: B. Willson (0-2)
SV: T. McCammond (2)
Game 3
Wayne Molloy (0-1) @ Nat Mandlin (1-0)
Mandlin puts up a solid performance giving up 3 runs during 8 IP but I applaud Wayne Molloy. 8 shutout innings before he is taking out of the game for Dudley who gives up 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th for Washington to win. He gave up 4 straight singles, then a walk, then a 2 RBI double by Jamie Fennone to win the ball game. I bet Dudley walked off the field in a huff.
RATTLERS WIN: 4-3
WP: S. Negre (2-0)
LP: P. Stockheath (0-1)
Notable Injured People
Atlanta's starting shortstop Sean Verran is out for 2 weeks. Thus far this year he was having a hard time at the plate going 3 for 30 with a .158 OBA.
The Bronx just lost one of their rotational pitchers, Dale Richardson, who in his 2 starts this season went 7 innings or more. He will be out for 2 weeks.
Houston's staff ace Matt Kolbert who won his last 2 starts is out with a sprained finger. They won't see their major pitcher for 2 weeks.
The Boston Battalion lost their star shortstop Brian Gilbert for 5 weeks on a broken jaw. He supposedly got in a fight off field and broke his jaw but we can't be sure. Either way it will be a harsh blow to their offense.
Updates
Enrico Fernandez continues to struggle but seems to be getting out of his slump, now with a .222 avg.

April 15-17
Washington D.C. Rattlers (6-3) @ Philidelphia Express (5-4)
Game 1
Kiyomori Toyama (0-1) @ Britt McDermid (0-1)
Thanks to Britt McDermid's poor pitching in the 6th inning we started off on this road trip on a good note. After being neck and neck Washington's offensive exploded to score 7 runs in the 6th inning. 2 walks, 3 doubles, and 4 singles sealed their fate. From then on Washington's offense stayed hot to scorch the Express.
RATTLERS WIN: 12-5
WP: K. Toyama (1-1)
LP: B. McDermid (0-2)
Sidenote
Despite our major win Toyama has consistantly had trouble keeping the runs down. While it is true he has given up 16 hits in 18 innings 5 of those hits were homeruns. We will continue to monitor his progress.
On the flipside of Thad Justice has been hot with a 1.35 ERA.
Game 2
Thad Justice (1-0) @ Todd Baer (0-0)
Thad struggled early on and gave up 6 runs in 4 innings. Luckily, our bullpen pulled through and made sure no more damage was done but Todd Baer pitched a complete game and gave up only one run.
EXPRESS WIN: 6-1
WP: T. Baer (1-0)
LP: T. Justice (1-1)
Game 3
Ever Migoya (1-1) @ Orlando Mojica (0-0)
The game was scoreless until the fifth when the Express hit the accelerator to go ahead by 2 runs. Eric McUre replied with his solo homer and Tom Nagel's RBI double. The game is tied and goes into extra innings, but not for long as Ramon Siberian and Jamie Fennone both hit doubles and score a total of 3 runs together.
RATTLERS WIN: 5-2
WP: S. Negre (3-0)
LP: T. Sosa (1-1)
SV: T. McCammond (3)
Notable Injured People
Joe Peterson (SS) of the Atlanta Avalanche is out for 3 weeks.
Updates
Ramon Sibrian, our 3B, is extremely hot right now hitting .486 with 2 HRs. We are hoping he ends the season with a .300 avg.

April 18-19
Washington D.C. Rattlers (8-4) @ Atlanta Avalanche (6-6)
Game 1
Nat Mandlin (1-0) @ Julio Guerra (1-0)
Both Guerra and Mandlin gave up many runs early on but the Washington's offense came through with Sibrian's double and Eric McUre's 4th home run of the season.
RATTLERS WIN: 8-4
WP: N. Mandlin (2-0)
LP: J. Guerra (0-1)
Game 2
Eric Gaines (0-1) @ John Otoole (0-0)
Eric Gaines shuts them out for 8 innings before being relieved by Shrum for this nasty shutout! The Washington offense came forward once again for a slaughter.
RATTLERS WIN: 5-0
WP: E. Gaines (1-1)
LP: J. Otoole (0-1)
Notable Injured People
Marc Rogers of the Bronx Black Roses is out for 2 weeks. He was their lead off hitter.
Mike Miracle of the Miami Mustangs goes on the DL for 2 weeks. He has had a great year as their staff ace.
Updates
We are currently tied with Houston for the best record in baseball this year. Another thing to note is that our offense was going to be considered a liability but this year it has delivered.
Moon Max, who was slated to be in our rotation, has put up a 5.53 ERA in AA. Good thing we replaced him in the rotation :)

April 20-21
Philadelphia Express (8-6) @ Washington D.C. Rattlers (10-4)
Game 1
Britt McDermid (0-2) @ Kiyomori Toyama (1-1)
(Sidenote: Our hitters tore up Britt McDermid last time around, and we shall do it again!)
Toyama has an excellent start giving up only 1 run in 8 innings while Britt McDermid faces the same challenge that he faced last time... our hitting. He gave up 4 runs in 7 innings before he left the game. Garcia, whom replaced McDermid in the game put up a stunning performance as he struck out the side in the single inning he pitched.
WP: K. Toyama (2-1)
LP: B. McDermid (0-3)
SV: T. McCammond (4)
(Sidenote: McCammond is yet to give up an earned run this year.)
Game 2
Charlie McLain (1-1) @ Thad Justice (1-1)
Thad Justice put up a great effort but still gave up 3 runs in the 6 IP. McLain wasn't in the game for very long but their bullpen kept us scoreless.
EXPRESS WIN: 4-1
WP: C. McLain (2-1)
LP: T. Justice (1-2)
SV: L. Aguilera (1)
Notable Injured People
The Bronx are being plauged with injuries as another starting player, Doug Smither, is out for 3 weeks.
Baltimore loses a solid pitcher in their rotation as Eric Pendley goes out for three weeks.
The Michigan Monks lose their starting shortstop as well. Mark Roesch goes down with a sprained finger for 2 weeks.
Updates
The New York Victory has put up a stunning streak this year. A 14 losing streak. They've had the worst run support of ANY team this year as they "slug" 2.43 runs per game.
The Houston Beasts are talking to Sean Davis who currently wants a 6.6 mil contract. Davis is a solid fielder who will hit .300 avg with 20 homeruns a year on average.

April 22-24
Chicago Carpenters (7-8) @ Washington D.C. Rattlers (11-5)
Game 1
Marty Tuttle (1-0) @ Ever Migoya (1-1)
Tuttle pitched fine and gave up only 2 earned runs... unfortunately he gave up 5 runs. Migoya went through 7 innings giving up only 3 runs as Samuel Negre drops his ERA even lower during relief. Tuttle also hit his first career homerun. Procter hits his 2nd homerun this year.
RATTLERS WIN: 5-3
WP: E. Migoya (2-1)
LP: M. Tuttle (1-1)
SV: T. McCammond (5)
Game 2
Keith Black (1-1) @ Nat Mandlin (2-0)
You can't blame Nat Mandlin here. He gave up only 5 of the runs during this game and our bullpen failed miserably for this 10-9 loss. Had our bullpen been solid this game would have been in the bag.
CARPENTERS WIN: 10-9
WP: S. Valenzuela (3-2)
LP: C. Arnold (1-1)
SV: J. Tagliaferri (1)
Game 3
Jose Hernande (0-2) @ Eric Gaines (1-1)
Every game this series the Carpenters gave up 5 runs with their starting pitcher. Eric Gaines wasn't able to recreate his 8 inning shutout in his last start but his 7 inning 4 runs was enough for the win. McCammond still has an ERA of 0.00.
RATTLERS WIN: 5-4
WP: E. Gaines (2-1)
LP: J. Hernande (2-1)
SV: T. McCammond (6)
Notable Injured People
C.C. Perry of the Houston Beasts goes out for two weeks after a few horrendous pitching outings. After 4 starts his ERA sits over 11.
Phil Thomas also of the Houston Beasts goes out for two weeks as well. He goes out after some amazing pitching outings with 4 wins and a 1.35 ERA.
The Winsconsin Hounds lose their RF Manon Colon for 2 weeks. He was slated to hit 30 HR this year with a .300 avg.
Updates
While Sibrian has cooled off Jamie Fennone is still hot as he is 3rd in avg this year.
The sad sad New York Victory haven't seen victory in 17 games.

Since I am in a completely fictional league I though I'd run down the teams! W00t!
All stats are last years if not stated otherwise.
American League
East
Baltimore Blue Sox
Power Ranking: 12
All I can say about this team is, "Ouch, man. Ouch."
Everyone on the lineup is a run producing threat but their pitching fails. They have no excellent starting pitchers and only 3 decent ones. The other 2 really suck and will most likely put up a 3-11 record on the year even with their massive offense.
Pros
+ Everything is a run producing threat.
+ One of the top closers of the league is on their team.
+ They have many top batting prospects
++ Most of their prospects are better sluggers than 90% of my team
Cons
- They have a poor rotation
- Can't rely on that bullpen
- Some of their every day players are defensive liabilities.
- None of their prospects have a real chance at staff ace, but a 2nd or 3rd spot could work out.
- They have TOO MANY sluggers on their team! It must really eat up the payroll to put a top homerun hitter in AAA because there is no more room left.
Team Batting Average Leader: Mike Murray, hit .300 last year
Team Homerun Leader: Dwayne Tutschulte, hit 45 HR last year
Staff Ace: Eddie Addis, 11-6 with a 3.96 ERA last year
Closer: Alan Inkster, 2.67 ERA with 21 saves last year
Setup: Alex Futrell, 6.07 ERA with 15 saves last year
Bronx Black Rose
Power Ranking: 18
This team is the New York Yankees of this league! Their budget dwarfs most of the teams in the league but it appears that all of that cash was spent on poor players. I expect a massive payroll drop in the following years.
Pros
+ High Budget
+ They do have a few good batting and pitching prospects
+ I traded Enrico Fernandez to them :D
+ The team gets along well together
+ Rotation has room to grow into a powerful one
Cons
- Poor spending of budget
- Weak offense
- Fairly weak rotation
- 40-50+ mil a year in payroll to people playing in the minor leagues
- No run producing threats
- Very weak setup man
- Barely servicable closer
Team Batting Average Leader: Orlando Vigil, hit .280 last year
Team Homerun Leader: Enrico Fernandez, hit 27 home runs last year
Staff Ace: Tommy Petty, 5.51 ERA with 5-11 record
Closer: Gabe Chilcott, 3.75 ERA and 6 saves last year
Setup: Chris Stein, with 8.10 ERA last year
Toronto Terriers
Power Ranking: 15
This team has a low payroll and has a very distinct style to try and manage it. Get a few big names, get really cheap players to cover the rest of the lineup and rotation.
Pros
+ No one wants to pitch to the 3rd, 4th, and 5th hitters
+ Well stocked farm system that will probably bring this team either a good player or a chunk of change
+ Three excellent starters in the rotation
+ Definitely will make a good profit from this year
Cons
- 1/2 of their lineup is very poor
- 1/2 of their bullpen and rotation is very poor
Team Batting Average Leader: Kyle Tosh, hit .313 last year
Team Homerun Leader: Dennis Carleton hit 25 HR last year
Staff Ace: Ben Williams, 3.24 ERA last year with a 11-16 record last year
Closer: Henry Harvat, 2.34 ERA with 15 saves last year
Setup: Prescott Terry, 2.28 ERA with 12 saves last year
Tampa Tycoons
Power Ranking: 14
They took Toronto's style to the max!
Pros
+ You don't wanna pitch to some people even more.
+ Three very strong pitchers
+ Lots of affordable and good players in the farm
Cons
- Laughable 4th and 5th starters
- Horrid bullpen
- Over their budget by 10mil
Team Batting Average Leader: Paul Williams, .341 last year
Team Homerun Leader: Paul Williams, 38 HR last year
Staff Ace: Glenn Bradford, 4.13 ERA with 13-8 last year
Closer: Jason Saunders, 4.06 ERA with no saves last year
Setup: Steve Britt, 2.36 ERA with no saves last year
Boston Battalion
Power Ranking: 28
Their budget is practically the same as the Red Sox of today. Very well rounded team that is strong in most aspects, but isn't doing so well this year.
Pros
+ No weak points in the rotation or lineup
+ No defensive liabilities
+ They have a few potencial superstars in their farm system
+ Big budget that is used far better than the Bronx
+ 20 mil under budget
Cons
- They overpay a few players
- Plauged with injuries
- Despite having a well rounded lineup without any weak points it doesn't have any strong points either. They have no real strong hitters in there, only servicable ones.
- I wouldn't rely on this bullpen

Game 1

Houston sweeps Chicago to place them in front of Cincinatti. Their superior pitching has given them this chance.
Steve Coldiron, Nat Kosoy, Anton Wales, and Greg McLaughlin are traded to Phoenix for Hiro Mata, the injured prospect.
Mata is a power pitcher who touches 100mph. He has had movement troubles in the past but looks to be an excellent pitcher in the future.

Game 2
Eric Gaines (3-1) @ Wayne Molloy (0-3)

RATTLERS WIN: 9-1

Notable Injured People
Marcellus Peillere of the Cincinatti Invaders goes down for 3 weeks. He has been an instrumental part of their offense.
Mark Cant of the Atlanta Avalanche, whom he was staff ace of, is out for 3 months.
Oakland's Eric Heckman has had a great year winning his first 5 decisions with a 1.87 ERA but he goes down for 5 weeks as he dislocated his hip.
Updates
Now that we've swept 2 teams in a row I think we have a good chance at the pennant this year. The free agent signings turned out well as now all of our starters are putting up sub-4 ERAs.
Tim McCammond still retains his 0.00 ERA. He is the only closer in the league to do this so far.
David West, Max Moon, and Albie Kramer are promoted to AAA.
Oscar Norello takes over as the everyday Center Fielder. Jamie Fennone is our all purpose outfielder now.
Phillip Crase, Karl Samuel, Zach Stevens, Arto Halais, and Lyle Gayle go to Oakland for their pitching prospect Eduardo Barrientes.

Washington D.C. Rattlers (13-6) @ Miami Mustangs (13-12)
After being overjoyed with our previous sweepings I could tell that this one wasn't going to be so easy. Mike Miracle had just come off the DL which hopefully was going to aid us for a victory and if Migoya can go for 7 or 8 shutout innings again then this should bode well for us.
Game 1
Thad Justice (2-2) @ Mike Miracle (2-0)
My wishful thinking didn't work as planned. Thad Justice gave up 5 runs in 5 innings and Tolbert gave up another run in his 1st debut this season. Miracle on the other hand... pitched beautifully until he was relieved in the 9th inning and their bullpen shut us down.

RATTLERS WIN: 3-2

LP: J. Henniger (2-3)
Notable Injured People
Zack Hipp, a Houston starter, goes down for 3 weeks on a dislocated shoulder.
Sam Voigt, a Miami starter, goes down for 4 months with severe elbow tendenitis. He is a cruicial Miami prospect and it will be a terrible loss for them if this hinders his development. Voigt had a 3.00 ERA when he was put on the DL.
Bryan Zaffarese, a St. Louis starter, goes down for 2 weaks with a finger stress fracture. He had a sub 3 ERA when he was injured, but only a 1-3 record.
Updates
Atlanta is on a 6-game winning streak and has closed the gap to 1.5 games in our division. We need to avoid getting swept at all costs.
Samuel Negre signed a 4 year extension at 1.05 mil. He had been a great piece of bullpen for us this year and we hope this trend will continue.
Shrum, Tolbert, Despard, Scragg, and Soule will go to Boston in return for Miguel Incillo, a power relief pitching prospect. He should be an immediate contributor at a short reliever.

Edmund Lopez (2-1) @ Eric Gaines (3-1)
Amazingly, Eric Gaines, whom was thought of as an unreliable starter has been our best starter this year as he gives up 3 runs in 8 innings and to sweeten the deal he batted in 2 runs this game.
RATTLERS WIN: 4-3
WP: E. Gaines (4-1)
LP: K. Long (3-2)
SV: T. McCammond (9)
Notable Injured People
Cincinatti's Brandon Bennett goes on the DL after an amazing 1.74 ERA with 5 wins. He will be out for a month.
Scott Boccaletti of the Boston Battalion goes on the DL for 5 weeks with an inflamed rotator cuff.
Updates
Negre continues to be unreliable as we narrowly avoid a sweep. On a good note our rotation has performed miles above where they stood last year.
Atlanta stands 0.5 games behind us.
Bruce Waterston is traded for a relief pitcher, Travis Brown, from the San Francisco Silver Stars.
Sean Davis is signed at 5.05 mil 4 year contract. He fills in for Waterston. Sean Davis is a 29 year old RF that seems to be a solid hitter and not a defensive liability. He was unable to come to an agreement with Baltimore so we came in and knabbed him.
Elvis Colarada is signed at 1.2mil for 1 year. He will replace Gary Shearer in the lineup and Gary Shearer will become a bench player.
Even at 37 Elvis Colarada is a 20 HR hitter but he has had contact trouble.

Washington D.C. Rattlers (21-12) @ San Francisco Scatter Guns (16-19)
I am going in with the intention of winning 2 of the 3 games. If we fail... then I know that our initial offense burst at the beginning of the year was just a little burst and that my moves to grab a few better hitters works out.
Game 1
Kiyomori Toyama (4-1) @ Leon Albarracin (3-0)
Toyama pitches excellently, as always, with 8 innings with 1 earned. Sean Davis hits his first homerun as a Rattler and the offense rides out an easy win. Negre CONTINUES to be unreliable as he gives up 2 runs.
RATTLERS WIN: 5 to 3

LP: L. Albarracin (3-1)
SV: T. McCammond (10)
Game 2

SCATTER GUNS WIN: 14 to 5
WP: R. Canning (3-2)
LP: T. Justice (3-4)
Game 3
Ever Migoya (3-2) @ Jim Roberts (2-4)
I can point the finger at the always easy to blame bullpen. We had this game in the bag. McCammond, who had a sub 1 ERA on the year, was coming in to close this game and he... gives up 3 runs?! Two walks, two hits, three runs. Game over.
SCATTERGUNS WIN: 6-4
WP: S. Yarr (1-1)
LP: T. McCammond (0-1)
Notable Injured People
Phil Thomas, an excellent Houston pitcher, goes on the DL yet again this time for a sprained knee. He will return in 2 weeks.
Tom Nagel, our starting catcher, chips his kneecap and will be out for 23 days. Tom has been an excellent run contributor.
Carlos Navarro, an aspiring CF prospect, goes on the DL for 2 weeks for a pulled groin.
Updates
Our bullpen has failed us yet again and even with us trying to find useful stopgaps we haven't found a keeper. Incillo, however, has an excellent future ahead of him. I expect great things in the future from him.
Travis Brown replaces Wil Smith as a short reliever.
It appears the days where we could call Negre in and watch him pitch a shutout inning or two are over. Now he just comes in with a clean base slate, scribbles all over it, then watches the other team take the valuable chalk dust off the board and into their bucket of hate for two runs. Er. What was I talking about again? Either way he still could be useful as a piece of bullpen, but we arn't pitched 6 or 7 inning games anymore.

Washington D.C. Rattlers (22-14) @ Phoenix Wallbangers (22-15)
Phoenix has some heavy bats in their lineup. I hope our pitching staff... and especially the bullpen... can get the job done. If they don't... HEADS WILL ROLL!
Game 1
Nat Mandlin (3-2) @ Roger Cadle (3-1)
Phoenix may have an amazing bullpen but their starting pitching is what killed'em this game! Roger Cadle gives up 3 runs in the first inning to two doubles and single by Lewis, Norello, and Davis. Their bullpen... *cough* shut us down with relative ease, BUT their starting pitching isn't that tough so we're hoping for a sweep!
RATTLERS WIN: 3 to 2
WP: N. Mandlin (4-2)
LP: R. Cadle (3-2)
SV: T. McCammond (11)
Game 2
Eric Gaines (4-1) @ Tim Thompson (0-0)
(Pregame Note: I did a little research on this Tim Thompson guy. Right now I would say he would do decently in the AAA but when he hits his prime... he'll be a pitcher to watch. He is a lil' green right now and I'm hoping for an easy victory...)
And amazingly Gaines pulls out ANOTHER win from something in his nether region, MIRIGHT?! No, you're not right. Gaines gave up 6 runs in 4 innings... but so did Thompson! Our offense dwarfed theirs as Colorando finally gets his first hits. Since he scored 4 runs this game I can dismiss the fact that he had been hitless during his whole stay on the lineup (yet he somehow got an OBA over .300 during that time...). The relief pitching finally gets back into groove and we shut'em down for the last half of the game.
RATTLERS WIN: 11 to 6

LP: R. Ferguson (3-3)
Game 3
Kiyomori Toyama (5-1) @ Andrew Fisk (2-3)
We asked for a sweep... and we got it! Toyama has been by far the best pitcher on our rotation. He goes 8 shutout innings before being relieved by Brown as we shut them out this game. Davis hits 2 home runs, Colorada hits 1, Ornello hits 1.
RATTLERS WIN: 8-1
WP: K. Toyama (6-1)
LP: A. Fisk (2-4)
Notable Injured People
People've been healthy. The good people at least. Some weak players got injured but they ain't notable.
Updates
We sign Shearer to a 6 year extension at 3mil. We have no idea how long Coranado will last, he is 37 already.
Now I've been having near random signings from the free agency as of yet and I haven't given you an explanation. If you haven't noticed the Rattlers were the only team without someone that hit 20 HR last year. We definitely could use some power hitting in our lineup but there wasn't much to be offered in the free agency and we didn't want to put much more up for trade so we came down to these two hitters.
Sean Davis has been our 2nd best pickup from free agency all year. He is hitting .474 with 3 HR in 6 games. His OPS is 1.138. He averaged 15 home runs a season for the Launchers and put together a .309 avg over his 3 year career. We definitely came in with expectations for him to put up the power numbers we needed to succeed.
Colorada is a different story... He has never been good at getting a high average but his onbase was always at a good level. In his hayday he was a fast runner on the baselines, stealing 15-20 bases a season. Also in his hayday he was a 15-30 homerun hitter for Oakland. Time hasn't hit him as badly as we thought as two years ago he put up a career high homerun mark with 32. This year he is hitting a measly .158 avg but a .385 OBA. All 3 of his hits were for extra bases. Elvis will be a cheap and useful bat to add to our lineup.
Brett Simonsen replaces Brian McUre in LF. Brett moves into the lead off spot. Brett lacks power but he makes up for it in contact and speed.
Shearer replaces Dean Lewis. Shearer's bat was consider more needy at this time than Lewis' glove.

Toronto Terriers (23-18) @ Washington D.C. Rattlers (25-14)
After our recent sweep of Phoenix we have to go up against the weaker part of Toronto's pitching force, followed by their staff ace, who has been struggling. Onward for another sweep!
Game 1
Martin Trevor (0-0) @ Thad Justice (3-4)
We annihilate Trevor with 5 runs in 3 innings and their bullpen can't keep up with our now hot bats. Coloranda goes hitless... AGAIN but gets a walk. Gordon Procter batted in 5 runs this game with 4 hits, one being a homerun. Brett Simonsen gets 2 hits and scores twice as well. Ramon Sibrian hits his 16th double of the year.
RATTLERS WIN: 10 to 4
WP: C. Arnold (2-1)
LP: M. Trevor (0-1)
Game 2
Ephraim Umanzor (0-0) @ Ever Migoya (3-2)
Ever Migoya pitches a 9 inning shutout for the win! I admit, Umanzor, despite being arguably the worst pitcher in their rotation, did hold us to 2 runs the entire game. Gordon Procter hits another HR.
RATTLERS WIN: 2 to 0
WP: E. Migoya (4-2)
LP: E. Umanzor (0-1)
Game 3
Ben Williams (1-1) @ Nat Mandlin (4-2)
Ben Williams finally gets his head in the game and pitches a shutout. Revenge, I suppose, but either way Nat Mandlin pitched beautifully for 8 innings giving up only 1 run.
TERRIERS WIN: 1 to 0
WP: B. Williams (2-1)
LP: N. Mandlin (4-3)
SV: H. Harvat (13)
Notable Injured People
Chris Thomas of the Los Angeles Strikeforce goes on the DL for 2 weeks. He is an excellent pitcher with a devastating 12-6 curve.
Cincinatti's power hitting catcher, Travis Weaver, goes on the DL. He hit 17 homeruns this year tying him at 3rd.
Jeff Haygate, Oakland's starting catcher, goes out for 2 weeks with a sprained neck. He is an excellent contact hitter with speed.
Updates
Well twas no sweep but we came extremely close.
With our recent winnings we've got a 2 game lead on Atlanta.
Atlanta's offense may outrank ours but our pitching has been superb.
Our next series is against New York Victory. We expect a sweep.

New York Victory (11-34) @ Washington D.C. Rattlers (27-15)
We're up against the worst team in the league and we need a sweep. We have to be the broom of life and sweep ourselves to VICTORY!... er... Sweep Victory to us so we can sweep them... or something.
Game 1
Mark Taylor (0-0) @ Kiyomori Toyama (6-1)
9 innings. 0 runs. 108 pitches. Shutout, baby! Davis hits his 4th HR of the year as we ride out an easy victory.

RATTLERS WIN: 14 to 4
WP: T. Justice (4-4)
LP: L. Valencia (2-6)
Game 3
Wayne Molloy (2-6) @ Ever Migoya (4-2)

RATTLERS WIN: 10 to 2
WP: E. Migoya (5-2)

May 26-29
Philidephia Express (25-22) @ Washington D.C. Rattlers (30-15)
This is a crucial series that could cost us the lead if our pitching or bats weaken. Philidelphia has been a low scoring team that has very effective pitching.
Pregame
In general Philidelphia dominates by pitching. Their starting pitching has been extremely effective this year as they give up 3.96 runs per game but on the flipside they only score 3.68 runs per game. They are pitching from the top of their their pitching down while we are starting near the bottom. A sweep would be nice but unlikely.
In our first match we go up against their staff ace, Orlando Mojica. Orlando has a 2.21 ERA this year which is a considerable improvement over his last year's vintage. Nat Mandlin has a 3.52 ERA this year but has pitched very well in his last 2 outings, where as Orlando got his only loss in his last outing.
Our second game against Jorgé Agulio probably won't come easy. Agulio has never given up more than 3 runs in any game and averages almost 8 innings a game. Eric Gaines is our 5th starter whose performance has been above expectations. My estimate for Gaines is 7 innings with 3 earned runs.
Britt McDermid will be pitching the next game and luckily, our bats have always smashed him back to the dugout. He has given up 12 runs to us in the 2 games and if this trend continues we'll expect an easy win. Thad Justice has been an excellent pitcher... at times. Most of his outings are like flipping a coin. He can be effective, he can look like a minor leaguer.
The last game will be against Sam Geier, a pitcher that normally is below Gaine's level. Like Gaines he has been an exceeding his normal pitching and even delivered a shutout in his last outing. To tackle this we're sending out Kiyomori Toyama, our staff ace with 7-1 on the year and a 2.44 ERA. He has 2 complete games and has a problem with giving up homeruns, which with this team shouldn't be a problem.
Game 1
Orlando Mojica (2-1) @ Nat Mandlin (4-3)
Everyone but the pitcher scored an RBI this game to destroy their staff ace! Colorada hits 2 doubles.
RATTLERS WIN: 9-4
WP: N. Mandlin (5-3)
LP: O. Mojica (2-2)
Game 2
Jorgé Agulio (4-2) @ Eric Gaines (4-2)
Eric Gaines looked strong. He definitely had been an effective pitcher in the past, but when the 6th inning rolled around he got annihilated. Shearer hits his 11th HR of the year and Colorada hits his 2nd.
EXPRESS WINS: 8-4
WP: J. Agulio (5-2)
LP: E. Gaines (4-2)
SV: T. Sosa (11)
Game 3
Britt McDermid (1-5) @ Thad Justice (4-4)
Thad put up a brilliant pitching performance that sent the game into extra innings! This 14 inning game ended when Sean Davis laid the sacrifice bunt to win the game!
RATTLERS WIN: 3-2
WP: T. Brown (2-0)
LP: L. Aguilera (0-2)
Game 4
Sam Geier (2-1) @ Kiyomori Toyama (7-1)
When Toyama comes in the game is over already. Toyama pitches 8 scoreless innings as McCammond comes in for the save. Norello hits his first homerun this year.
Toyama has gone 8 or more innings in his last 8 starts. He hasn't given up more than 2 runs in those last 8 starts.
RATTLERS WIN: 3-0
WP: K. Toyama (8-1)
LP: B. McDermid (1-6)
SV: T. McCammond (12)
Notable Injured People
The St. Louis Spirit's first baseman, Justin Lynch, goes on the DL for 2 weeks for mild shoulder separation. He hit 20 HR this year.
One of our relieving prospects, Albie Kramer, goes on the DL for 2 weeks with mild shoulder separation.
Tom Slade of the Minneapolis Broken Bats goes on the DL. He led the leagues in ERA and had 7 wins.
Ben Tiner, a Pittsburg starting pitcher, goes on the DL for 2 weeks. He went 4-2 this year with a 3.44 ERA.
Updates
Samuel Negre has returned to his old form fully as he has been flawless in his last 5 appearances.
Kiyomori Toyama is tied on the leaderboard for wins and leads the National League. He is second in ERA in the National League as well.

Washington D.C. Rattlers (33-16) @ Pittsburg Impact (27-23)
Phil Wilcock and Eric Gaines will go to Michigan in exchange for Cory Tripp, a starting pitcher that is 29 with a good cutter and fastball.
Cory is a far better pitcher than Gaines, and even though Gaines is having an excellent year I believe Tripp can have an amazing year. He has a 2.70 ERA this year.
I'm making a bold prediction of a sweep.
Game 1
Ever Migoya (5-2) @ Manuel Levya (5-3)
Migoya pitched poorly, giving up 4 runs in 5 innings, but in the end our offense overpowered Levya for the win.
RATTLERS WIN: 9-4
WP: E. Migoya (6-2)
LP: M. Levya (5-4)
Game 2
Cory Tripp (4-2) @ Tommy Haynes (3-7)
The trade for Cory is already looking up as he pitches for 7 innings and gives up only 1 earned run. Haynes pitches for 7 innings but gives up 5.
RATTLERS WIN: 5-2
WP: C. Tripp (5-2)
LP: T. Hayes (3-8)
SV: T. McCammond (13)
Game 3
Nat Mandlin (5-3) @ Jeff Lewis (1-0)
... Well, there goes my prediction. Nat Mandlin gives up 8 runs in 3 innings and our bullpen wasn't perfect. Shearer did hit his 12th HR today though. (Norello with his 4th as well.)
IMPACT WIN: 11-3
WP: J. Lewis (2-0)
LP: N. Mandlin (5-4)
Game 4
Kiyomori Toyama (8-1) @ James Hudgens (2-4)
Kiyomori beats then down going 8 innings with 2 earned runs. Shearer's 13th and Terobino's 5th HR make this game a cinch. What can I say? Kiyomori was pitching.
RATTLERS WIN: 5-2
WP: K. Toyama (9-1)
LP: J. Hudgens (2-5)
SV: T. McCammond (14)
Notable Injured People
Kevin Long of the St. Louis Spirit goes on the DL. He had a 4.63 ERA with a 4-2 record.
Julio Aglio goes on the DL for 33 days. He has been a solid piece of bullpen.
Updates
Ric Tarabino, our backup catcher, has been a worthy bat in our lineup. In Nagel's absense he has slugged .500 with 5 HR.
John Grundstrom, Jon Pruitt go to Arlington
Dusty Joseph, and Dusty Cameron go to Kansas City
Hard to tell who got the better deal here. The Dustys are a decent 1st baseman and a good RF. John is a good relief pitcher while Pruitt is a decent catcher. Pretty even deal.

Washington D.C. Rattlers (36-17) @ Atlanta Avalanche (30-24)
Our closest rival in the Division, Atlanta, comes up ready for a fight. We'll be playing their 4th, 5th, and 1st starters.
Game 1
Thad Justice (4-4) @ Leon Maceira (1-2)
I compliment Leon Maceira. He went 7.0 IP with 1 ER. If his bullpen came up then we would have easily lost but... an inconsistant bullpen can ruin a team's record. Look at me a few games back >_>; Sean Davis hits his 5 HR.
RATTLERS WIN: 5-4
WP: S. Negre (4-2)
LP: L. Goad (1-2)
SV: T. McCammond (15)
Game 2
Ever Migoya (6-2) @ Gregg Johnson (2-0)
This was a battle of the bullpens as both starters give up massive runage. Both bullpens did the same, both bullpens gave up the same runs, but Migoya gave up one more run that Johnson. Colorada hits his 3rd HR and Procter with his 7th.
AVALANCHE WIN: 6-5
WP: R. MacNeill (3-0)
LP: S. Negre (4-3)
Game 3
Cory Tripp (5-2) @ Jay Schwinger (7-2)
Cory Tripp shuts them down for 7 inning with 14 Ks. K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-K-Kory Tripp has been an excellent aquisition. Jay did poorly for their staff ace as he gives up 4 runs. Shearer hits his 14th HR, Colaranda with his 4th, Sibrian with his 5th.
RATTLERS WIN: 4-0
WP: C. Tripp (6-2)
LP: J. Schwinger (7-5)
Notable Injured People
Braden Grinnell of the Miami Mustangs goes on the DL for 2 weeks. This CF was .296 on the year with 7 HR.
Daryl Woodham of the New York Victory (snicker) goes on the DL for 2 weeks with a chipped kneecap. He was scoreless through 8 innings of relief.
Tom George of the Tampa Tycoons goes on the DL for 2 weeks for a sprained knee. He hit .306 with 8 HR.
Updates
I realized that Ramon Sibrian lead the majors in doubles with 21. He has been a solid player for us and will continue to play for years to come.
Cory Tripp moves up to the 2nd starter spot as he has been truely great pitching for us.
New York Victory obtains Eric McUre (LF)
Washington D.C. Rattlers obtain Ronald Stohlburg (3B)
Eric McUre can definitely help out the Rattlers offense, Ronald can help us cut our payroll and get a nasty hitting prospect into the mix. When he peaks he'll be a very strong bat at third base. A good trade for both sides but a little leaning toward us.

Even though we're not the same city we have our city rivalries. We, the Rattlers, HATE the Tide! I'm not stating the fact that snakes can't swim or that the Tide is a lamer name that Rattlers but I'm saying even though we're not the same Washington we hate them!
And do I have a reason to hate them? YES! (Network.) I was just finishing work on a new Deathray to terrorize the nation when I hear that some of MY fans have put Austin Lively on the DL. I STILL haven't finished that Deathray... We will sweep them or HEADS WILL ROLL!
Game 1
Kenn Hinata (5-2) @ Kiyomori Toyama (9-1)
I really don't feel the need to go over Kiyomori's pitching again but this time he goes for 8IP and gives up 1 hit and no earned runs. Colorada hits his 5th HR. Kenn Hinata gives up 5 runs in the first 5 innings for the loss. IN YOUR FACE WASHINGTON... NOT D.C.!

St. Louis Spirit will be missing Don Bushnell for 2 weeks with a hand stress fracture. He has gone 8-4 this year with a 2.69 ERA.
Updates
We didn't sweep so NEGRE'S HEAD SHALL ROLL DOWN FROM SETUP MAN TO SHORT RELIEF! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! (More maniac laughter)
Samuel Negre has been converted from setup man to short relief. He has been one of our most unreliable relievers, wavering from amazingly to horrible. He is replaced by Travis Brown.
Tampa Tycoons get Dean Lewis (IF)
Washington D.C. Rattlers get Ken Somerset (RP) and 1mil
Dean Lewis is an excellent infielder. Somerset has a definite career as a closer. In the future I win out but for now they'll reap the benefits immediately.
We sign Jerrell Wilkinson (1.65mil 2 years) to replace Dean Lewis as a utility IF. Jerrell has decent offensive and defensive qualities. He hits decently for contact and is pretty fast on the baselines. Solid .275 hitter.
Washington D.C. Rattlers get Dusty Ginter (RF)
Baltimore Blue Sox get Craig Arnold (RP)
This one is easy. Dusty Ginter has the potencial to be a HoF eventually, Craig Arnold is a fair relief pitcher. I win.

The Firemen and the Rattlers Switch Prospects
The Washington D.C. Rattlers and the Oakland Firemen switch players that may determine their teams outcome in a few years. Shortstop Felipe Feria and starting pitcher Jim Tolerson are shipped off in a box all the way to Oakland where they put Chris Longworth in a box and shipped him off to Washington. Both teams claim they have gotten their packages unharmed.
Felipe Feria was projected to become an excellent and well rounded hitter that could hit for power, contact, steal bases, field, the works. He was hitting .313 in the A league. Tolerson has been on the DL and was expected to become a very useful reliever.
Chris Longworth is one of the biggest pitching prospects to go through Oakland in years. His fastball routinely hit 100 but his change needs some work. He had a 2-1 record in the rookie A league.

Sidney Ponson, seen here eating unedible objects
Ponson Eats Unedible Objects, Requires Surgury
Ponson has been notorious for eating things back in St. Louis but this takes it a big too far. It was recently discovered that some of the things he had eaten have lodged themselves into his gut and he is having digestive troubles. A surgury will be performed to remove these foreign objects. Ponson did not comment.
Yankees team captain, Derek Jeter, was asked on his thoughts on the subject. "The guy is a living eating machine," he commented. "Does anyone have a marker? I need to mark my lunch so Ponson knows not to stuff it down his mouth."
No, I don't hate Sir Sidney. I just felt this picture was too hilarious not to use.

June 13-15
Washington D.C. Rattlers (42-20) @ Houston Beasts (33-29)
Pregame
I bet Game 1 will be a pitchers duel. Tripp has been an excellent starter for us this year as he has averaged 7 innings a game with a 1.29 ERA for us (not the other teams). Phil Thomas, on the other hand, has a 3.15 ERA, the lowest on his team, and has been pitching poorly in his last 2 starts.
Game 2'll be a little easier. Zack Hipp has been consistant. Consistantly bad. He has a 4.65 ERA on the year and a 4.39 career. Migoya has been a constant game winner for us but his pitching in the last 2 games worries us as he has only gone 5 innings and each and gave up 4 and 5 runs respectively. If Migoya can get his head in the game it'll be a cinch.
Game 3 is a toss up. Thad's hit or miss pitching has been helpful but it also has cost us a few games. Hugh Clay is their staff ace with a 3.38 ERA on the year and won't be too easy to get our bats by. This one can go either way.
Game 1
Cory Tripp (6-2) @ Phil Thomas (5-2)
As I guessed this turned out into a pitcher's duel. Both Cory and Phil went 8 innings with only 1 run (Cory got 10 Ks!) but Houston's bullpen gave up a run on a sac fly to end this game.
RATTLERS WIN: 2-1
WP: M. Incillo (2-0)
LP: A. Vialpando (3-2)
SV: T. McCammond (18)
Game 2
Ever Migoya (6-2) @ Phil Thomas (5-2)
Giving Thomas the start one day after the other worked out well for Houston. He pitched 1 run 8 inning outings in both games! Luckily, Migoya was able to do the same thing as Wilkinson and Nagel score 2 runs in the 12th to win this.
RATTLERS WIN: 3-1
WP: T. McCammond (2-1)
LP: A. Garza (0-3)
SV: M. Incillo (6)
Game 3
Thad Justice (4-4) @ Hugh Clay (4-2)
Thad puts up a hit, not a miss, in pitching today but it is all for naught as McCammond gives up a run in extra innings.
BEASTS WIN: 3-2
WP: A. Vialpando (4-2)
LP: T. McCammond (2-2)
Notable Injured People
Shawn Wilhelm (C) of Kansas City goes on the DL for 2 weeks with shoulder inflamation. He was hitting .286 and 7 HR.
Elvis Magano, also of the Kansas City Bulldogs, goes on the DL for a chipped kneecap. He has been an excellent starter this year with an 8-2 record and a 2.48 ERA.
Oakland's 3B Trevor Dunne goes on the DL with an ankle stress fracture for 3 weeks. He is most known for his break out year where he hit .327 with 37 HR in only 120 games.
Updates
This entire series went into extra innings! Our bullpen might need a break after this...
Cory Tripp has kicked up his performance after the trade. He has gone 29 innings with 5 earned runs and 40 strikeouts. In his 70 innings with Michigan he got 40 strikeouts.

Wisconsin Hounds and Chicago Calvary Work Out Trade
Wisconsin and Chicago have been trying to get a trade done but haven't been able to come to an agreement until now. Stu MacNeil, Wisconsin's starting third baseman, will be hauled over to Chicago in exchange for Shawn Grover, a solid relief pitcher.
Baseball experts feel this is a good trade for both sides. "Chicago has needed a third baseman all year," says Baseball Analyst Paul Phoenix. (Who has nothing to do with the Tekken fighter of the same name.) "Wisconsin has needed relief pitching. It works out."
Nationals pick up pitching prospect Phillip Hughes
http://www.bronxpride.com/files/images/Baby%20Rocket.jpg
The Nationals traded away infielders Damian Johnson and Cristian Guzman for Yankee pitching prospect Phillip Hughes. Hughes is widely considered one of the best pitching prospects to go through the Yankee's farm system in a long time. Cashman, whom just returned from his vacation, has constanted stated that they would not trade Hughes away for anything was asked to comment on the matter. "What? Did something happen?" was all he said.
Not trying to take a shot at ChrisJNelson, just wanted to show what I think happened in that trade :D

Washington D.C. Rattlers (44-21) @ Los Angeles Launchers (32-33)
Game 1
Kiyomori Toyama (11-1) @ Dale Moorhouse (1-3)
Greg Shearer smashes out 2 homeruns and clearly shows that he is the homerun hitter of the Rattlers. He has 17 on the year. Toyama pitches for 6.1 innings with 2 earned. Moorhouse gets owned.
RATTLERS WIN: 9-2
WP: K. Toyama (12-1)
LP: D. Moorhouse (1-4)
Game 2
Cory Tripp (6-2) @ Nat Coughlin (5-3)
Tripp, like Toyama, didn't last long but the bats did the talking. Everyone in the game got a hit and Davis picks up 3 more hits to aid his .320 avg on the year.
RATTLERS WIN: 13-6
WP: C. Tripp (7-2)
LP: N. Coughlin (5-4)
Game 3
Ever Migoya (6-2) @ John Martinson (5-2)
Migoya pitches 8 flawless innings before being relieved by Incillo. No one in the Launchers pitching was safe from our bats this series as we sweep'em up and toss'em in the trash.
RATTLERS WIN: 9-1
WP: E. Migoya (7-2)
LP: M. Agricola (4-8)
Notable Injured People
Baltimore's contact hitting catcher Mike Murray goes on the DL for dislocating his hip. You won't see him for 8 more weeks.
Los Angeles Strike Force will lose one of their best sluggers for the year. Frances Casarabias goes on the DL for 5 months with a broken neck vertebrae.
Minneapolis loses their ace Jeff Davis to a foot strain fracture. His fastball and sinker have been devastating to hitters and his injury will be devastating to Minneapolis.
New York Victory's ace Luis Valencia does down with a broken tibia. He isn't expected to play for 2 months.
Updates
Unless Tom Nagel can kick up his batting we will be looking for a new catcher in the offseason.

38 year old Steve Good signs a 3-year contract to Washington D.C. Rattlers
Power pitching relief pitcher Steve Good signed a contract worth 3.9mil to pitch for 3 years with the Washington D.C. Rattlers. While an overall unreliable pitcher in relief his entire career he put up numbers last year to show that he still had potencial as a relief pitcher.
"We'll be extremely happy if he can duplicate the numbers he put up last year," says Rattler GM Sanji Watsuki. "Negre's hit and miss relief has given us grief this year and we'll be replacing him with for Good." None of the reporters found his play on words funny.
Samuel Negre leaves Washington and packs up for Arlington
Negre's hit and miss relief has caused the Washington D.C. Rattlers to lose more than a few games. He goes on streaks of flawlessness then he goes on streaks of horridity which has ballooned his ERA this year to 4.76. Filling for his absense is Steve Good, a veteran reliever.
Arlinton puts up one of their best relief pitching prospects Bruce Zoren. Bruce was known for his devastating slider in AA where he put up a 1.80 ERA. In a few years he'll be a hot commodity in the relief market.
"Even if Negre puts up amazing numbers in Arlington it'll be worth it," says Rattler GM Sanji Watsuki. "But as they say ... does anyone have a good pun for Bruce or Zoren?" The reporters had no comment.

Washington D.C. Rattlers (47-21) @ Miami Mustangs (36-33)
Game 1
Thad Justice (4-4) @ Robi Tunchez (6-2)
I flipped the Thad Justice coin and it came up heads! Thad Justice pitched excellently giving up only 1 run in 8 innings. Despite a little hiccup by Incillo in the 9th it was a great game. Colorada and Procter hit HRs.
RATTLERS WIN: 8-3
WP: T. Justice (5-4)
LP: R. Tunchez (6-3)
Game 2
Kiyomori Tomyama (12-1) @ Tony Null (1-3)
Kiyomori continues the winning streak with an 8 inning shutout. Colorada and Procter hit MORE homeruns.
RATTLERS WIN: 5-0
WP: K. Toyama (13-1)
LP: T. Null (1-4)
Game 3
Cory Tripp (7-2) @ Ray Torris (4-5)
Mustangs are swept! Tripp pitched 6 innings with 2 ER but our bullpen was flawless. Shearer hits 2 HRs for 19 on the year.
RATTLERS WIN: 6-2
WP: S. Good (1-0)
LP: G. McCluskey (2-5)
SV: T. McCammond (19)

Many injuries but not one of importance.
Updates
We've had the Yankee effect as I call on it our pitchers. They suddenly burst out for an excellent season after pitching for the Yankees and we're having the same thing. Cory Tripp, Kiyomori, Thad Justice, and Nat Mandlin are all above my projectedness.
Sean Davis has been slumped so I will be giving him a day off. Jamie Fennone will fill in.
