I cannot believe my bad luck.

Within 3 days, count 'em, 3 days I lost the heart of my batter order for my Chicago Cubs.

First, a recent free agent pickup, OF Roy White. Gone for 217 days.

Next day, a superstar first baseman injured for 232 days, Mr. Steve Garvey.

Then to add salt to a hurting lineup my power hitting 3B...Bill Melton...gone.
for 190 days.

And the funny thing is?

They all had broken wrists.

All three of them.

Can't believe it!!!!

Were they all armwrestling in the clubhouse before the game?

Old war injury?

Did they play darts for 50 hours straight???!!??

I know I have talked about my players' "broken vertebrae" complex a while back. But this is uncanny.

I am not one to change ANYTHING in the League Editor, ever.

So I suck it up and watch my Cubbies suffer...:-(

Is there a doctor in the house?

ps. my medical budget was sitting at league best 18 million. GGRRRRRR

lol
that's almost as bad as when I lost my three top starters for 100+ days each one season. well, it is as bad, really. if your team cant hit, it really doesn't matter how well they pitch.

I'm fairly convinced that the medical budget doesn't really do a thing for injury frequency or duration. if may reduce it very slightly, but i'm willing to bet that the top rate is a 10% reduction if you're rated A+.
I think that where it helps you out the most is in recovery. If you have better medical, your players will bounce back from their big injuries alot better.

I'm inclined to agree with the "recovery" theory.

Without any official insight, I figure it must work to prevent the "lasting damage" type news items. I never seem to get those when my medical is in the top half of the league. Conversely, it seemed I always got them when I was spending with the bottom half.

I can almost guarantee it has little effect on the frequency or severity. I have to adjust in the league editor (-30, -30) just to be able to sim a month when I want to. With injury contigency on, I get stopped every freakin' week.

I don't tamper with the settings for injuries. I always try for being first in the league for medical (moving out some salary if I have to make room in the budget for medical). I usually set my injury notification at seven days. Some years I cruise through without ever having an injury more than seven days. Some years I catch **** from injuries with a starting pitcher and a starting position player out for most of the season. I am pretty selective about my roster though. I will take a couple of notches off the current/peak value when I am looking for a player to make sure i get one who is rated 80 or better for health.
