Didn't want to hijack the A's bias thread, but am wondering if others have seen a pro-Yankee bias. I'm simming the Os in the early 60s and the Yankees are powerful, I understand that. I'm a newbie, playing at fan level, haven't messed with any settings. From 55-63, the Yanks have won every Series but one. I've had the Os up to 96 wins('63) and I still finished 39 games back!! In 62-63 NY won 130 and 125 games. Believe me this is not a rant, I'm having fun, but it's tough being 17 out by mid-May.

wow, their doing pretty good. must be getting alot of money.
what's their payroll at? and who's actually on their roster?
as a human player you do have a distinct advantage in that you have a crack as signing any player before any of the computer GM's have even the possibility of signing anyone. Somthing that any real life GM would kill for. keep playing, and keep an eye on the free agent market.

Yankees of the 50s and 60s routinely pull in 65,000-plus fans a game during the season. They always have about 180,000,000 in revenue and 120,000,000 in payroll. Chicago and LA are the only other towns that can approach this.

Well I give up. I just finished '64. The evil empire finished 137-25. They have a payroll of 260.2 million!
Starters
Joe Boyd(87) 31-0
Tony Thorton(92) 17-1
Curt Simmons(91) 22-6
George Rostenstreter(93) 24-2
A mostly injured Marichal pitched in w/ 9-4

2 guys w/ 47 HRs and 3 more w/ 30+. Their YTD profit was 25 mill in the red! The Os won 86 and finished 50 out. The shine is rubbing off...

hehe
I figured as much. Houston, Teams in multi-year sims will often go deep in the red for a season or two, in order to win a World Series. Teams like the Yankees can do it regularly, since they have such high revenue. It's extremely easy for them to recover.

I haven't tried it in BBM2007, but when I was playing BBM2004, the Washington Senators were a great pick. I would take the old Senators anywhere from the fifties or the new Senators from the sixties. Their payrolls would be patheticaslly low and after a year of finishing last and dumping anyone with a salary, the cash position would be improving. I could then sign free agents from small market teams and have a lineup with Ted Kluzewski, Del Ennis, Roy Campanella, Don Newcombe, and Robin Roberts. I would also buy up all of the newly created rookie pitchers with B+ thru A+ ratings. Every few years, i would have to build a new stadium to whittle down my cash position.
