look guys im french but also i realise certain REAL truths over the last10 years most ie 45+ neew players do not come from the draft
Most r signed either pre draft, post draft.
98 percent r non US
this leads é a
certain organisatiions, invest ABROAD the talent is there
for every upston there is a marte etc
if possible can Clay "split" scouting into a degrees (ie europe, states etc)
& b mask certain rookies becos of lack of funds
ex dodgers great in carib... bad in asia thus see all in a plus relative corect scouting whilst Seattle has exactopposite dilema.
Means u have 2 think WHere the the talent will be rzther than just luck
Overall braves ace in the antiles, red sox canada and the dogers superb ' YOUNGSTERS
iEAZY OR NO,
This international thing would be cool to implement, but will take a lot of careful thinking and planning. Probably won't even see it next year at the earliest.
I still rather have the AI and player development tweaked/corrected/fixed first.
What you're describing reminds me of the new EA games, where each franchise has strengths, etc. For example, in NHL, each franchise has certain goals to accomplish and the GM will have strengths in areas such as finance or scouting, etc and so on. In this case, you're just saying how each franchise has advantages/upper hand in scouting and developing players from certain regions.

There are Foreign born player's in Baseball Mogul. Most do come into the game through the draft, but several players are created and available on the free agent market after the draft.
Even the draft in Baseball Mogul isn't true to life, as there is only 6 rounds where in reality there are something like 50+ (depending on when teams decide to stop drafting). Player's also don't reenter the draft, and there is currently no waver wire or rule 5 draft. Additionally, there are no actual Scouts in the game; you just spend money on scouting and it effects the quality of information you have available for all players.
Maybe in next years version some of these features will be added. We'll just have to wait and see.

You know... If you could higher your own scouts, you would be able to have them look for certain things like speed or power or defense. This goes along with another thread I responded too about making the players scouting reports ratings. I had stated that we should have the overall, and peak based on what kind of players we like ie A's like high OBP and dont care about speed or average , Braves care about players from GA, defense and high schoolers. Some teams look at players differently. To some a guy like Ryan Langerhans is not a big time player but he his highly rated to the braves because he has AWESOME range and is a great fielder. The yankees on the other hand dont care as much about defense as they do offense. Neither one is wrong they all just run the team differently.

i agree will all the above the point is :
in the game u allocate X mil to general scouting which allows u 2 c REAL ratings right? All that has 2 be done is implement a split of X into X1 X2 X3 X4
thus making u think more and in essence obliges u to allocate your ressources more carefully. Cetain organisations cant play in the FA market with the likes of the cubs, yankee, mets et al and still produce huge players see Bay in Pittsburgh (even though he was aquired in atrade) but Marte was never drafted and was signed thru the latino connections of the Braves.

I know that BM2007 cant do it but it could/should be implemented in BM2008 becos its relatively easy the consequences r that if u dont spend in certain sectors your ratings will be skewed &/or u dont even get 2 c the 16 year old
phemon from Bani,D.R. etc it allows certain teams 2 risk big bucks 4 high return but no guarantees just like the real world.
Also stops u guys just signing big bucks mega certainties more scope more risk more thought

I m saying that upto now in the real world only a percentage of players are drafted. non drafted rookie FA's from around the world Andrus,Marte,Chun (almost all the World Futures Roster) could be scouted/signed independently. Allocating spending by Zone and pricing would permit 4 BM users to decide whether or not 2 spend money on scouting in Latin America at the detrement 2 signing a FA or spending on scouting in Japan/asia.
U Spend big bucks on Latino Market scouting u see REAL 0+/- Potential , u spend NO bucks on scouting Asia u dont see any asian player or very few with potential +/- 20 points;
Got the idea?

If a change were to be made in scouting, I would rather just have individual scouts that need to be hired (that have individual strengths and weaknesses in things that they scout for). In general I would want the scouting system to stay the same, however.
There are internetional player's available with the current system, and I beleave that the system is basically fine as it currently is.
