Hey,

I need some help. I can't seem to log on to BMO anymore. I type my name and password and all it does is come back to me as if I hadn't entered any info.

I'm pretty sure the problem is on my side as I've reinstalled Win98SE and reformated my hard drive. But just in case it isn't, I thought I'd let you know.

My name is Myketay77 and the league I'm in is A Few Dollars More.

Thanks, any advice will be apreciated. I'll be doing my own troubleshooting in the mean time.

Hi, Mike -

I am able to log in to your account. That coupled with the fact that you reinstalled IE makes me think it's a configuration problem with your web browser.

Make sure the browser is set to accept cookies -- you need that to log in, since the cookie keeps track of your user account and what league you are currently looking at etc.

Try logging in with Netscape and see if that make a difference.

Let me know if you still need help.

My cookies seem to be all enabled and every other site that needs cookies is working.

I think I'm gonna download the lastest IE as I'm using 5 now. Perhaps that will work.

I'll also try from another comp to see what's up.

Thanks again and I'll post an update soon.

Mike -

Check your web security levels, and try lowering them.

Also, check to see if you have installed any programs like ad-blockers or pop-up blockers, or other browser add-ins that could be causing the problem.

I'm back.

I went to the privacy settings and set it to accept all cookies, but it still didn't work. So I had to go into advanced privacy settings and check the overide automatic cookie handling box and always allow session cookies box. That seemed to work. I really don't know what those boxes do, but all I do know is that I'm able to log on once again.

Thanks guys.

I can't log on from my home computer. IE6 or Opera does the same thing. I can log in but when I got to check my teams it kicks me back to the login screen. I have no problems with my work computer. I was able to log in until last night, that's when this started. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Hi, Gang -

I have a hard time giving an authoritative answer to why people find they can't access BBMO all of a sudden.

My best guess is that it is related to cookie handling and personal privacy / security settings. I usually find that I am able to log into the account in question, so it seems like it must be related to the user's computer and the settings there.

With IE 6, I'd like to see if it makes any difference if you add sportsmogul.com to the list of websites with broad cookie permissions.

Go to Tools -> Internet Options
Choose the "Privacy" tab
Click the Edit button to edit the privacy policies for individual sites
Add the following sites to the "Allow All" list:
sportsmogul.com
www.sportsmogul.com
www-1.sportsmogul.com
secure.sportsmogul.com

Somebody please try this out and see if this helps. Then please post your results here.

Thanks,
James Grove

James,

I forgot to mention that I had put www.sportsmogul in the allow list and that was the reason why it let me log in after having a problem. Forget the whole "overide automatic cookie handling box and always allow session cookies box" that I mentioned it my previous post. That had nothing to do with it.

I tried taking sportsmogul off the allow list and it wouldn't let me log in. I tried putting all 3 sites you mentioned, but it only let me add www.sportsmogul.com. That however was enough as I was back on once again.

Looks like that is the problem and solution.

Just to Clarify, Mike -

you added:

www.sportsmogul.com

to the list and it worked, right?

(You first said www.sportsmogul and I want to be very clear about this.)

Yes, adding it made it work.
