Has anyone ever had a pitcher win 30 games? (No editing etc.)
This is as close as I have ever come

27's the closest i've ever gotten, and thats with Mogul 2k6. But the guy reached 26 a few times:

In my current 1901-2006 simmed custom universe, I have one.
Bruce Milburn, 1963, managed to get 40 starts, went 30-5, 2.40 ERA. 19 complete games as well.

I just hit 27 with another pitcher 2 years later

I've had one guy win 33 and 30, and another guy win 30. No I never edited their stats, I just had a killer offense and these guys were great pitchers.

I've had guys get in the low 30's in 06 without editing my laptop which has 06 and those files is broken so I can't access it.

I've had 2: Glavine and Maddux. Started their careers about the same time. No editing, no cheating of any kind. Did this with a 5 man rotation. Both guys had a perfect season, with no losses. You can win more with a 3 man rotation, but their career span will take a big hit...
Glavine's stats:
4993
Maddux's stats:
4994

I had one, no editing, drafted with a peak of 97 and an overall in the 50s at age 17. Went on to become this:

I have seen teams in BMO not win 30 games...pretty sad.
In many games without editing, I have seen some players hit 30 games.
In one screwed up patch, I had one player win 40 and lose 30 on a 2 or 3 man rotation. I think it was Randy Johnson.......without editing
The most editing just for fun would be in the mid-high 30s, usually thou anything above 23 games is impressive.

I hit 35 once but I usually use a 4 man rotation with pitch on short rest all the way to the right (+100%) so it is a little unfair, he had like 46 starts at least. Never have had a perfect season tho. had a few 20-someting and 1's tho. One of them was a 23-1 ands it was the second to last game he pitched that he lost!!!

To get my guys to win 30, I had the start on short rest moved slightly to the right, so that my 1,2,3 starters got at least 35 starts and usually 37 or 38, but my 5th starter only gets about 20-25, and of course I had a great offense

Hey Dingus,
I noticed Cline only had one post season start for your team.
Didn't they make it to the playoffs in his other years?
I would bet be would have been WS MVP.

I've had a few 28 win seasons, but never 30.
I have had a couple perfect seasons. Sadly i am at work and can't add a screen shot.

Well with the '80 Astros in Mogul mode I am hoping that Niekro will get to 20 wins at least after a 6-0 start in 7 starts and he carries a miniscule ERA of 0.80 ....
oh and with the '27 Yankees in the Fan mode I believe (that is the easiest mode right ?) I had two pitchers who were undefeated at 19-0 and 20-0 but I quit before the season was over as I thought the sim had gotten ridiculous when their team record was 94-5 ..... 30+ game lead in the division
bahhh I just cursed Niekro as he was touched up for 2 runs in the top of the 1st vs the '80 Reds .... hope I can scrape up some run support for him ....

Yes, fan mode is the easiest. Again, it doesn't affect stats.
Were you playing in play-by-play?

Yea I aquired him in my rebuilding phase.
Ended up having a semi decent career. Got hurt the year after 29. Real shame

I was playing in play by play and hey when you say it doesn't produce different stats that seems odd cuz I surely notice it is alot harder to get things done in Mogul than in Fan mode as I had tons of batters with .400 + and even .500 averages and the RBI totals were insane and yeah I understand I was using the '27 Yankees but I have used other teams in exhibition and clearly gotten different results when playing at different lvls ...

It makes PBP easier, at least the PBP Difficulty.
If you were simming, difficulty level has absolutely no affect on statistics.
Obviously, with play-by-play, it becomes easier and thus your stats will be increased.

rrr dang it I cursed Niekro as he wasn't around long enough due to a high pitch count and so he got a no decision ....

How do afford a roster like that. Your payroll must be outrageous.

Hmm... do they still call it the Cy Young when you know... Cy Young is playing

Yes.
It's possible. For the record, I play a 5-man rotation. However, with "start highest rested", it nearly plays as a 4-man rotation, on manager difficulty. However, I started in 1901, and I was able to build a much better stadium than any team by 1970, which means lots of money invested into farm system.. Thoses who have seen my reports on Eck and 3-Dog can attests, I farm HOF'ers.
Here's my last 30 games winner...

In the mid 1920's Babe Ruth went 33-2 for my Brooklyn Bums. One of those wins came in the Series that year.

The 5-man rotation combined with tons o' relief pitching has made it virtually impossible. I mean, it hasn't been done IRL since Denny McLain in '68. I made a "super pitcher" (rated @ 99) who made 35 starts one season in a 5-man rotation, and he finished 29-1 on a team with a very powerful offense. I re-simulated several times and he didn't win more than 26 games (though he didn't lose more than 6, either).

It seems to me that the only way you can do it is if you have ridiculous run support like I did. Mind you, that run support comes at hefty negotiations. Ran out of pitcher before I ran out of money, thankfully. All my game settings were in the middle and I had 5 pitcher rotation. If you can maintain a team that is very productive and can win 130-140 games a season, I think you can do it.

I think that has something to do with 3 man rotation. For some reason, a 3 man rotation doesn't tax your players as heavily as it does if you had a 3 man rotation in more modern times. With 3 man rotation, my guys were injured more often than normal, plus their career span was cut short some 5-10 years. Even then, I still could not come close to the numer of starts that Cy Young had...

I run about a $70 million payroll. If I have to pay big money to another pitcher, I will trade Seaver for a sheaf of prospects.

Wow! Talk about monopolizing......
I got Seaver and a couple of others from the White Sox in Jan 1963 for Bob Gibson.
I got Carlton and Stottlemyre from the Mets in Jan 1963 for Gary Peters and Bob Anderson.
Rick Wise, Jim Lonborg, several decent position player prospects and and five megabucks from the Phillies for Vada Pinson (who bankrupted them) in Jan 64
Don Sutton from Cleveland for Bell, Brabender, and a number of surplus position players in Jan 64.
Nolan Ryan and Catfish Hunter from Cleveland in Jan 66 for Lolich, Lemaster, Sadecki, Lonborg, Torrez, and Hagood.
Blyleven and Hooten from Cleveland in Jan 70 for Fergie Jenkins and Ken Frailing.
Vida Blue and Ron Guidry from the Cubs in Jan 70 for nine mediocre players.
