SirKodiak reported at http://forum.sportsmogul.com/showthread.php?p=605796 that the trading block cash offers are ridiculous. The AI must've gotten screwed up somewhere in that it's offering insane amounts of money for any player. Sometimes, it overs too much for bad players, too much for good players, too little for good players, etc...
Also, after clicking on one of the trades and clicking "Balance Cash" the cash cycles through a bunch of numbers before settling on "6,44" with the comma.
However, if you open the trade, and clear the offer and put the player back and then click balance cash, it balances fine.
All of the above does not always happen, however, the majority of the time, it does. For a few players, everything works fine....really weird.

This is out of whack. I don't do it anymore, but one game I would hire the top free agents at each position and was still rolling in the dough. What I'd do is sign players under 30 to a contract, then turn around a year or two later and sell them for big money. Even with an all star team my ticket revenue wasn't able to bring as much money in as my little technique did.
(the difficulty was set on Mogul.)

It seems that this is a potentially risky yet valid strategy. I'm playing as the Tigers on mogul difficultry and bring in about 120 million in revenue each year. My payroll hovers around 95 million and I'm near the top in expenses, but I'm able to sell the occasional overpriced player or promising prospect to keep my balance afloat.
However, for me, the computer doesn't seem to overpay for guys. I have a near impossible time selling a guy I know is overpriced, or a guy I know isn't that good of a prospect.
One thing that does seem messed up is that the comp will readily trade a 60/95 pitching prospie for a 77/78 LF. These sorts of deals do happen in MLB, but it's usually a contending team trying to add depth, whearas in BM, all teams will do it, even ones that need every cheap pitching prospect they can get, and aren't close to contending-- The virtual Marlins for example.

I looked into this a little bit by offering Jason Kendall (high priced, decent ratings) for $, and I checked offers (a $23m one, a $16m one, and a $4 million one) and you can get $1m more from them, and that's all the money they have. So it seems they offered cash on hand - $1m. Now, in one case, I asked the computer to throw in a scrub, and he would not make the trade even when I lowered the cash to $0.

I've had free agents ask for $50k/yr initially, then suddenly bump it up to $1mil a year. Don't get that at all.

Did you extend the amount of years?

Did you extend the amount of years?
When I change the # of years, there's an oft-drastic change in asking price. Even when I don't change the # of years there's still an increase in price, just not as drastic--i.e., asks for $18k/yr on free agent screen, but on contract negotiation screen it defaults to $50k-$100k (for one year).

These types of contracts are what Houston and I were asking to be changed to become simply "Minor League Contracts" before.
Anyway yea. if you change anything about them, then you're not negotiating for a minor league contract anymore, it becomes considered a major league contract. therefore, it is subject to the league minimum, and the normal negotiation AI.
different issue, though.

yea, that's what I noticed as well. strange behavior...

They get angry that you are trying to low ball them and increase their request. Is my guess. This has been true in the previous versions going all the way back to BB Mogul 2002. Not sure this is a bug.

no, no, it's a different contract type is all. changing it changes what you're negotiating to a normal contract.
It's a display issue, more or less. It shouldn't actually say $50,000 or anyhting like that, if you ask me. These players make minor league money ($10,000 $18,000 etc...) as far as I can tell.

Yeah, I noticed this bug as well. I didn't want to proceed with cash trades because I feel like it's abusing the A.I. and I didn't want to feel like I'm cheating so I never took any cash trades out of the trading block. I hope Clay can fix this bug.

this is also the position I'm in right now.. although I've noticed it for a few versions now, just havnt had time to report it and surprised this has not been addressed yet as it seems quite significant.
As the pirates, I can basically offer up anyone on the block for cash and get the max amount of cash available from each team.. when I balance the cash for each team, I'm able to type in 999 million.. and have the trade accepted. Sometimes though, as previously stated, when I clear the offer and resubmit it to the individual team I'm in negotiations with, the cash problem will be fixed..
