I was just wondering how you play the game?

I sim 1 month at a time and I don't really play PBP much. I play baseball Games on my PS2 (MLB 06 THE SHOW)!

usually by month but every now and then PBP when I get in the mood (rare tho)

I play it on PBP mode and I find it so much more fun because I feel like I can actually influence the game even more.

Plus, I can take out pitchers and hitters whenever I want at my own decision, rather than seeing A.I. making some absurb moves.

I go a week at a time and occasionally PbP when I spot an interesting pitcher matchup.

Generally, I sim game by game and check the box score after each sim.

Hi Silent...if you want the ultimate influence over the game, you might like to try "Player" mode - the box beneath that of the "Manager"...there, you get to do your own hitting and pitching throughout...if you want to know how effective it can be, look at my screenshot in the thread "Guys, view what YOUR team can do".

Summed up, I selected the crummy expansion Toronto Blue Jays of 1977, and, after an iffy first "learning" month, by dint of controlling every pitch in every at bat by either side - which is what Player mode is all about - took them to the World Series in that year...and they won that this very a.m. by sweeping Cincinatti in four

Just come across one of your earlier posts, in which you blithely mention that you started in Mogul, and seem to be more than holding your own...you have my admiration, Sir ! (O, for a beam-of-approval smilie...)

I take it that you're a newby, going where ol' Rongar fears to trade - I hear that the economics are tough at that level -...I must admit that the '77 Jays did all that good stuff at Fan difficulty level...their reward is, to be promoted
to the Mogul level, still playing pitch-by-pitch, of course...proving that no good dude goes unpunished.

You were asking about a realistic level...Clay has mentioned "Coach" (he reckons the AI cheats in Mogul), but, imo, for ultimate reality, we would have to play every season -in whatever mode, at whatever difficulty level, with the actual players who played in that season, with no ringers! The "Amateur Draft", alone, knocks that idea on the head.

Good luck, Silent, however you play in the future

If I could control the speed of PBP in GM mode, I would probably never use anything else.
As it is, I rarely use PBP mode.

I usually sim until someone gets hurt. I use the look in feature often and I use pbp for every playoff game, or during a tight pennant race.

Normally, I just sim. Sim for a few days, or a week at a time, check my rosters, see if I have any important games coming up.

On RARE occasions, I'll use player mode and go all out. Only when I'm extremely bored, though.

For all playoff games, and most important late season games, I'll use manager mode. It's great being able to have *some* control over the game, without having to choose each and every pitch, guess at pitches, etc. I'll leave those specifics up to the AI. I'd do manager mode all the time if I had the time for it, but I normally don't.

That's a good point. I often try to play manager mode in the playoffs.

Right now, I'm having a lot of fun with the Athletics, simming day-by-day and checking each box score, as I said above.
