I give up on my attempt at creating a roster set for this years Mogul. It's just too much info for one man to handle. I've reached the point of diminshing returns, meaning that I'm not really making any progress compared to the time that I am putting into it. If anyone wants to join forces in creating a roster set for Mogul 2008, I am up for that. We could probably at least get the framework set up before Mogul 2008 is released, and then tweak it once the game is released. Obviously, this is just something to think about for the time being. For instance, one person could be in charge of keeping track of contract info, another could be in charge of getting accurate pitch data, etc... This game has a ton of potential in my opinion. But one of the few things holding it back is the incomplete rosters (except for Houstons and Chris Nelson's rosters). During the offseason, I think if a few of us cooperate, we can get a **** near perfect roster set together. I seem to have a pretty good intuition when it comes to making player projections. But setting up a roster set to make these projections is just too much for me to handle. I don't see how Houston did it. But I think he has experience creating rosters sets with previous versions of the game. On a final note, you know it's time to give something up when it starts affecting other areas of your life (I've gotten caught a few times at work messing around with this game). This game is like a drug though, hard to give up.

HGM has the advantage of being 17 as well...

honestly, I've never understood what the problem is with the lahman database, default rosters. I think that Houston and Chris deserve alot of credit for their work, but I've never seen the need for it.
*shrug*

What, in your view, would you consider as a "perfect roster set"?

This is why I don't bother with the CSV files or the Lahman database or anyting, and do all my work in Commisioner Mode in a .mog file. :p

Rosters updated as of today with complete 2006 real stats plus top 20 MINORS minimum & the weird 10 day wonders (a la T.Long OR L.Walrond) per team hope it helps

Your a smart man. :D

Just do one team at a time....it is more time consuming than anything. Just get the final rosters available. Once Beta gets going, you can start on the 2007 rosters.

(once actually clay releases adds the 2006 stats)

once you get the main work done. Release a once a week, or even once every two weeks roster.

Thanks for the advice guys. I guess since I'm already half way there, mine as well go the whole way. I found some helpful info. Major league equivalencies for all minor league players down to Short Season Leagues were posted on Baseball Think Factory. Also Baseball Prospectus is in the process of working on a minor league translations. They have a beta page set up for minor leaguers, but it looks like it has not been updated since midseason. But once it is done, I'm sure it will make our lives much easier.
