don't know if this is a bug or if teams are just desperate for catchers, but the last two seasons drafts first rounds have looked like this. before my pick, there were 17 catchers selected out of 27 selections. That just doesn't seem right to me, no matter how bad you want a catcher.

Are the catchers better than other available players? If they are you might want to play around with the rookies.ini file lowering the catcher number.

No pitchers or infielders either just catchers/outfielders

here is a shot of the last catcher taken, and also a shot of what is still available in the draft.

I have noticed that the AI teams tend to "overstock" on catchers. I believe that I posted here on a thread which showed that im my leagues, the AI teams tended to have from 8 to 12 catchers in their system.

Draftee catchers have a higher overall rating than any other players and the AI is overvaluating that, or undervaluating the higher peak ratings other players have.

THE AI will draft OP Catchers over all players as it has always done(the AI likes to have if possible 3 catchers on MLB roster & 1 per level at the minors)
the problem here it seems is the over valuation of the rookie ini file which should drop Catchers values & it seems from the screenshot increase all other positions especially Pitchers (except OF)
