Having never played a large market team... all I can say is that I wish I HAD 275 points to spend! It seems to me that there should almost be a cap on what you can spend on your farm system, meds and scouting... i.e., the law of diminishing return should kick in sooner or later... out

There already is. Teams only have X number of points to spend...which is a finite number. If "I" decide to spend it on Farm, Scouting, Player contracts, or my mistress that's up to me...Just like it is up to Steinbrenner or any other owner period. To put ANY kind of unnatural cap on any aspect of MY team is not only wrong, but also unrealistic to the true game of Major League Baseball...the most cutthroat business in town.

if they have that kinda $ to spend let them spend it...it's not the amoount he is spending that matters, it's the ranking...so if he is spending $275 and second place is 120 he is wasting 154 points

Also, he won't be able to get as many free agents as he could get by lowering his farm system. With 150 more points he could simply dominate the league in FA!
