Are player's tendencies to swing at the first pitch built into the game? Ex: Nomar does like crazy, Boggs almost never did.
I guess, basically, I'm curious if players in the game have a natural (built-in) level of how many pitches (on average) they see in an at-bat. Is the batting eye rating a reflection of this? Just curious. Thanks!

I'd think so because on my game Jeff Francoeur almost always gets out on counts like 2-1, 1-0, etc.

Interesting question. I'm sure that the Eye rating is a factor in this, since it determines how often a player walks/strikeout. I dont see anything to indicate that there's actual accurate tendancies built into the game though. more than likely, players with lower eye ratings will simply be out with fewer pitches being thrown to them.
That would be a good thing to study though.

ah hah. I knew I'd seen something related to this somewhere before.
:)
I wonder how much of what Clay said there is still being planned.

I have build a coupple of tems with every one having and eye rating over 85 and starting pitchers are out in the 5th-6th inning 19 out of 20 times. its not always because of walks either. i have had numerous guys strike out but make the pitcher throw anywhere from 5 pitches to 11(that is a real rarity but boy is it nice)

I'm sure that they must be - most of my hitters tend to swing at every pitch ! - the bane of my management.
In another post, I've mentioned the possibility of cutting down this tendency by doctoring their stats, somehow, maybe editing 'em to have fewer strike-outs?...wot say the techies?
I wrote the above before reading the rest of the posts on this subject (a bad habit of mine). Thanks, once again, Sir Kodiak, for providing that most interesting link.
