View Full Version : Question: Why isn't this an un-earned run?

The way I understand it, after two outs, every run to score after an error should be un-earned, right?

I don't read very many recaps so I don't know how they are posted, but was the error committed on a hit or did he drop a fly ball? If it's a drop, definitely should be an unearned run, but it he bobbled the ball on a hit, it's earned as the guy who was on 2B would've scored with or without the error.

i hope Ian Royster was the pitcher (or a hitter that hits like one)

I think its earned because the run would've scored without the error..

Also "fielding error" means he could've bobbled it like parabraves said, and thus, it owuldn't have been an out..

Since the only hit he allowed was the infield single to DeLong, it should be an unearned run. What version are you using, as this is a bug.

DeLong was the one to score...

I'm not sure on the ins and outs of earned/unearned runs...but if you assume it was a single through the infield that the outfielder bobbled...that's an unearned run?

Robles only allowed one hit, the one to DeLong, so Algarin count not have got a single. So it is a bug.

But IF it had been a single that the outfielder bobbled, it would be the scorer's decision to if he thought the runner would have scored without the error (plus whether the batter would have scored from 3rd eventually without the error)

I'm using 9.45. I also just ran into another thing. If a pitcher puts a runner in scoring position, he exits, and another pitcher comes into the game and gives up a hit, doesn't that pitcher that gave up the hit take the loss?

The runners you put on 'belong' to you, and if they score the runs are charged to you, and those runs put the opposing team ahead to stay, you are charged with the loss.

There's no such thing as a "hit bobbled by an OF" in BBM. All OF errors are of
the dropped fly ball variety.

Do we know that?
