Can anyone explain what the connection is (in any given year in this game)between a team's "Payroll Budget" and the type of Broadcast that you use?
(Aside: I should point out, I play with the option for all market sizes, teams being equalized. So market size, while somewhat different to start, isn't quite as big of a problem for small market teams to start the game.)
Having started out with a team that uses local blackout for broadcast type, my team has around 66 million in Payroll Budget listed, but as soon as I switch it to either pay-TV or Local broadcast, the payroll budget drops by 10 million. Thus making my 7ish million projected profit into a 3 million loss for the year.
This happens no matter how many times I load the game, etc. and I've searched the boards and never found a good explanation as to what the connection is between a team's "payroll budget" is and what the broadcast type does to it.
Obviously, there should be a connection to local broadcast type and attendance, but how does it so directly relate to a team's pre-budgeted payroll?
Also... will the payroll budget ever go up if I put it on local broadcast and leave it there? Or am I stuck with the 2nd lowest payroll budget in the league for the next 20 years and having to sell players to make ends meet on one of the lowest payrolls in the league, every year?
For that matter: What factors determine what a team's payroll budget is?
And what factors determine if it rises or falls?
