Hi Guys.
I was wondering b/c I'm new at this.
I just started my first season and Im only through the first month but when you bid on free agents is it with your remaining cash ?
You know like that set amount of cash you get when you start the season and use for trades and stuff.
Like say youve used all of your money and have $5 left. If you want a Free agent whos wanting $10/yr, since I only have $5 that means I cant get him? Or is that bidding money for the Free Anget based on how much your payroll is under the budget?
Example) My payroll is $100 under my budget. So I get to spend/bid $100 on Free angets?
Could you tell me which it is??
1.) Cash Money or 2.) Money under budget
Also, if you win the pennant or world series or anything else like that do you get xtra cash for that?
Im just asking b/c I just used up all my cash in one day b/c this game is soo hooking I didnt realize what I was doing haha.
I like just gave all my money away during trades. aw wellz
I was just curious. If someone could help me out that would be great.
Thanx!

In your example....
Like say youve used all of your money and have $5 left. If you want a Free agent whos wanting $10/yr, since I only have $5 that means I cant get him? Or is that bidding money for the Free Anget based on how much your payroll is under the budget?
...you could still bid on that player, but at the end of the season you might end up having no profit, and therefore wouldn't be able to re-sign any payers on your roster, or Free Agents.
On this part....
Example) My payroll is $100 under my budget. So I get to spend/bid $100 on Free angets?
Could you tell me which it is??
1.) Cash Money or 2.) Money under budget
You can spend as much as you want to, but again you might not have a profit at the end of the year and won't be able to re-sign your own players, or Free Agents.
If you win anything during the playoffs you will NOT receive any bonus money, err points. Clay set it up that way to mimic the MLB. All money gained in the playoffs is used to offset league expenses....you don't actually see any of this.
I hope this helps,
John

Thanx for the reply.
Soo umm .. In the finances link under League .. That amount of profit is all I get to spend at the end of the season for the up coming free agents?
Like currently my numbers are like this:
2001 Revenue (To Date) : 100
2001 Expenses (To Date) : 94
So if this were the end of the season Id only have 6 bucks to bid on someone ??
Or is it the amount of money that ur under the Budget that u get to spend on Free Agents. I didnt quite understand what you were saying.

Hi
You can spend any amount of money you want too.
Lets say you have 20 points cash. Your team payroll is 150 points and your total expenses are 120 points(40 for Scouts, 40 for Farm Club, and 40 for Medical). Now lets say your projected revenue is 125 points. So now you have
150 points for payroll
120 points for expenses
----
270 points total for all expenses
125 points projected revenue
----
145 points over budget...a bad thing
20 points cash
----
125 points over budget...a bad thing
Now you will be in the hole 125 points next season, so you won't be allowed to re-sign any of your players whose contracts expire, and you won't be able to sign any Free Agents, until your points get back above 0.
So your -125 points the following season, now you have to rasie more money and lower your payroll or your team will suffer long term.
You could have a team payroll of 1,250 if you really wanted, but if you don't make that kind of money, once the contracts of those high priced players run out you will lose them, because you can't bid on them.
You want to try to balance everything out if you can, this includes your TV contracts(Pay Per view, Blackout, and regular TV), your ticket prices, to high and no one comes to the game, to low and you don't make very much money, and also your expenses(listed above).
Keep playing and go ahead with any experiments you want to try out. You can join 3 leagues, try out different things with each team to see what can happen.
Good Luck!!:D
John
PS-Any more questions, feel free to ask and I'll try to help out.

Thanx Alot!
That was very helpful. So then the Budget Number is basically just for looks and not much of importance because your going by
-------
Projected Revenue - (minus) Total Salaries, Farm System, Scouting, and Medical Staff
--------
or is it
--------
Projected Revenue - (minus) Prjected Expences
--------
or just
--------
Projected Expenses- (minus) your Budget which is located at the Contracts page
--------
LoL Im sorry for bugging ya. =)

Well, the number is important if your trying to stay in the + as far as points go. If you just want to win, and then rebuild after a few seasons than try to sign as many good players as you can.
Once the contracts of those players runs out then you need to rebuild. But don't think you will win it all with the best players, injuries do happen and it can ruin your dreams of becoming the World Series winner.
