It was a great final with both Washington's not having their A game for the finals(Neither won the WS). Clearly the teams were a little nervous being in the FINALS spotlight. But a strong regular season paved the way for TTAYLOR to WIN THE FIRST BBMO MARCH MADNESS TOURNAMENT!

How the points will work:
Points are determined by a team’s mogul rating in their respected league for the future seasons. See the 1st post of this thread to see what seasons count for which league.
Bonus points: Leagues that simmed more than 50 seasons will be awarded an extra 5 points per contest since the competition has been consistent and they use less predictable fictional players. These leagues are IL30, BOTB, Cascade, & BDML. Sorry, other leagues are great but 50 seasons without a reset deserve extra credit.
Subtractions: Teams that participate in leagues with 28 or less GM’s will lose 5 mogul points for every team less than 30. (i.e. 24 teams = 6 * 5 = 30 mogul points lost).
Now don’t forget, this is for fun so please keep the complaining to a minimum. However, smack talk and boasting is allowed. ;)
Dickie V : “It’s tourney time, baby.”
“Getting to the Final Four is no accident. It means you're getting your players to focus at the most important time of the year. It means you've got your team playing at a higher level because everybody is going to play at another level against you.”
Message me with your e-mail address if you want me to e-mail you the above brackets in excel.

First let me say great job Daves! :) Now on with the smack talking....
I have two teams in the madness and im going to break down my 1st round.
World baseball Classic(Kotoll Philly)1 vs Winter League(Robinhoodnik MIL)16
Robin you gotta be wondering about your luck getting me first round :)
Both teams are unequalized but Robin(MIL) is just starting to get out of his rebuilding years. Kotoll(Philly) on the other hand has gone to the World Series the last three years. This should be a slaughter as Robin is eliminated before April ends in Winter.
Field of Dreams(Kotoll FLA)7 vs Mogul Rivalry(Ilayasso KC)10
This will be a battle. Equalized vs Unequalized. With FoD Kotoll has averaged 105 wins but can't get past San Francisco who owns the NL. Ilayasso on the other hand has taken a small market team and controls the AL Central division. Both have players that are rookies but Ilayasso has the upper hand with half a year still to go before he starts his 2013 season. Kotoll on the other hand is starting his 2039 season tommorow. This first round is anyones. Worse the winner will most likely get Ttaylor's WAS team in BoTB.

Rankings based on Mogul ratings last two seasons that I obtained, overall team rating x2 and strength of league.
Points were added to leagues that simmed over 50 seasons. BOTB, IL30, Cascade & BDML.
Points were deducted for leagues that are having trouble keeping 30.
Mikeorav has an incredible team, but the stability of retaining players in his league may hurt him.

Hey, let me know who's won in 144 recently, booberry. 144 has enough owners to qualify for full points one the world series rankings scoreboard now.
umm to be honest i have been working on recruiting and other things in the league to keep up with the past winners.i think haole has been though check with him he's been on top of that part more then me i think.
although it would have been fun to see how the 144 league teams would have done maybe for the next one we'll have enough owners for it.

The qualification is actually post-active. It's simply a check box that I turn on or off in the database, which gives the league full points or only partial points. Simply having more than 20 owners (when I manage to check, which should be more often) qualifies everyone that's ever won.
Anyway, If you don't mind, shoot haole a quick message about it. He was keeping the thread here updated, but hasn't been recently.

So who is the Cinderella of the tournament?
Which bracket looks the toughest?
Which bracket looks the easiest?
Will the rankings matter and the number one's and two's will go far or did the number one's peak already and it's the 7 to 10's that are dangerous?
Will there be more spending in leagues to advance in the tournament?
Who is your predicted Sweet 16?
Who is your predicted Final 4?

I am working on my bracket. It is tough to research all the teams because some leagues have passwords. Off the bat I really like my draw in the Midwest. currently my team is on a roll and has about a 7 year shelf life. They may get old at the wrong time, but I am going to try to integrate a few kids in the early rounds. If there is one top seed primed to go down before the elite 8 it is CHW in BOTB. McPikl is in a stacked division that he just slipped into 4th after a decade of owning it.
My other team is Detroit from that same division in BOTB. My team has really busted out and made it to the WS since the NCAA rankings were announced. I have a good team, but am a bit nervous about Houston in Mogul Adicts round 2. He has had best record 3 times in 4 years in that league and has an offense that is stacked. He lost 2 - SP's and needs to find replacements in the next year to hold onto his status as favorite.

I've noticed two things which im fairly sure you didn't do on purpose. One is my Florida team has a chance to player Ttaylor in the second round. Whats interesting is it's WAS my old team that I stacked with talent and Ttaylor worked his magic. Not that im taking any of Ttaylor's credit but im basically playing a team I helped build.
Then there is my Philly team who could, if we both make it, run into my old ATL team in BDML. Again another team I helped build up and left which is how a successful franchise.
So I could be taken out by my own teams pretty much :p

What a coincidence. haha. The only thing I tried to do on the brackets is make sure each league was evenly divided up between the regions and no one player had two teams in one region.
Looking over the brackets I found that Idaho is the 4 seed in East Rutherford bracket. That will probably be a sweet sixteen matchup? Just can't seperate you two?;)

actually kotoll i built that team in Atlanta, but you wanted to face jknutsen so much that i decided to rent it to you for a couple of seasons. While you were finishing 2nd to Jk, i won a world series with your Cleveland team against your nemesis kotoll, after the 5 seasons you spent in Atlanta raising payroll and renting players from free agency, i had to restructure the whole team. :) so get the story right. i built that franchise and you just rented it for 5 seasons, and then i rebuilt it. :)

here's the time line:
2016-2034 i managed atlanta.
2035-2042 took over Cleveland
2043-present (currently in year 2061) re-managed atlanta.
there it is. Atlanta is the team I built with these two hands.

Wow so quickly we forget :)
I was in CLE 2021 to the time King took over. Team was loaded and ready for a world series run. But it was still missing a few pieces. Jken, no nuts, was running his mouth off in BDML and had been taking advantage of GMs for a decade. He had built a team that was 100 overall and with a farm system better than the 2nd best team.
So I decided to challenge him even though I knew it was sheer impossible to win. SO I asked if anyone in the NL East wanted to move so I can take on Jken. King offered to move. Now CLE was a low payroll team but ATL was not. The team was getting old and was close to a rebuild. There was a reason King left so quick :p. So I knew I wasn't going to win now so I gave King in the team moves some great young ready talent from his old team to win in CLE. Remember the few pieces I said the team was missing. Now filled for almost nothing.
People threw a fit and said I ruined the balance of BDML. Was funny since they built a Mets team with their picks. Even Jken said I did it to say I was rebuilding which I never did. I started loading back up on draft picks and got talent from the FA pool. I took on Jken at his prime.
Couple years after the move King finally won his first world series. He held first the whole time he was there until his last year. No surprise. In 2042 I finally had some young talent from the draft pool and Jken was losing interest in BDML. I took the WS in ATL in 2042 with a totally different team. CLE was almost the same team over that time. King came in 2nd in 2042. A team that was gettting older due to no real movement by the GM.
So I left after the WS and so did Jken. King immediately wanted his ATL team and apparently took it back over. In the five years after leaving ATL won two more WS.
I heard King actually won some World Series on his own. I guess it could be true. Not like he's a bad GM or anything. But it must be hard facing the fact you were living on someone elses plan. Scared of your own shadow? You seem to be in mine alot. No hard feelings though ....hmm didnt vote for me on the HOF post here? Gee was the 144 situation that tough to bear? Maybe you really do think you did something in BDML all those years. *shrugs*

kotoll you are a funny guy. In the first place i never wanted to give up my Atlanta team, but you kept insisting and i finally decided to do so. In the 2nd place i took on Jken on his prime too facing him in the world series and beating him 1 out of the 3 times. I didnt leave the cleveland team because it was old in fact the top 3 pitchers were under 26 and the star players on the offensive side were under 28. I left that Cleveland team well off. On the other hand the world series you won was flawed because jken left all his players in the minors and put all his AA players in the bigs letting you catch up in the end and finally letting you win one. In the end i had to do the same thing. You did have some prospects in the minors but they weren't stud prospects like you said before. I traded most of the team you left me in atlanta and rebuilt that team all over again. You are also right i did take my stud pitcher with me to cleveland but i didnt want to leave atlanta in the first place because it was due to break out, i just had a down year. I went to cleveland took the team over and went to three world championships against no-nuts and beat him once. I then went back to atlanta and did the same thing i did in 2016 and rebuilt that aging team, i guess after so many years of finishing 2nd to no-nuts you finally won one against his AA team. Furthermore, since you left i managed to win over 100 games in 15 of the last 16 seasons, have gone to 8 world series. Winning 6 of them, all no thanks to you. :p
I'm not saying you're a bad GM in fact you are a good one. I just believe JMO is a better one. :) That's why my vote went his way and not your way.
In the end, i still respect you, and your mouth.

Hmm might want to read that first post. Sure looks like 7 players, mostly studs, for two older players. Hmmm hmmm. Wait I must be wrong im sure those players didn't help. Ask me if they did Queenie we can go through that embarrassment if you like :)
And yes my World Series win there was a joke. Jken did sit his team and brought in a team still rated 98 instead of 100. That was his AA team. Guy had so much talent on one team the league became a joke. Lots of GMs moved on over those years.
And about your vote. Actually I believe you did vote for who you thought was the most deserving. Problem is you voted for one. But at least its JMO.;)

Hey Daves, is there any chance of getting passwords for the leagues that are hidden?
Seems a little unfair to me that my opponent is in a password-protected league, so I can't scout him and don't know exactly what it might take to beat him. And I'm in a non-password protected league, so he knows exactly what I'm up to.

Look at it as an advantage of being in a better league :p Best thing for you to do is ask someone your friends with to scout it out for ya. Also your question sounds more like should I double my payroll now or later ;)

Ask the person your up against how he's doing? If he says great, he probably has a losing record? If he says bad, he's probably in the playoffs already?

kotoll, i love you man, you have brought a smile to my face. Always with the last word. You are right i did take some players with me, but again those were my players that i had developed in atlanta, but then you started to whine how you wanted to play jknutsen. I just got tired over it. so i did what any gm would do. I cut a deal with you. I took a couple of my homegrown players and i offered the same with you. I gave you access to a large market team to compete with jknutsen, but the only stipulation was that we both take our players with us. I took a few of mine, but you decided to keep your aging players in cleveland where the social security checks were coming in. The best part? I got my team back after your little kindergarten temper tantrum with jknutsen.
Even Jknusten knew the team you had:
jknutsen: And why didn't you take anything with you? Because you had nothing to take. You ran that team into the friggin ground.
How about dem apples?
Kotoll
03-13-2007, 06:25 AM
haha Jken was upset because I left everything to you thats all. Team was ws caliber. You auto piloted it to a world series. And if you want ill post my message which I put on the boards about changing. It took a few hours according the the forum post. You make it sound like I actually hounded you which is so far from the truth its funny.
And btw I think our trade went something like this ....so what you you want to trade teams. Pretty much all my stars... okay np. You need this this and this. I just want the 1B you wont need and the catcher you're replacing. Deal. Believe it took 10 mins at most. I gave you everything. What does that trade tell you? That I was desperate to get to ATL because it was so ready to beat jken? Come on the guy had a 100 overall team on the bench. All I wanted to do was a lil challenge for myself. I was bored in that league. So I tried making the playoffs with a rebuild in his division and hoped to take some ws away from him. In the end I made the playoffs but didnt upset his ongoing rape of the NL. End of story. You got a ring with a team I sent over. Was it your players? Yes ofcourse. Was it my players on CLE? Yes ofcourse. Both were the reason you won. But our trade made it happen. I dont send those players you never win a ws rings with jken in the division or in CLE without the players sent over.
Now how did I do. Oh yah I kept winning about the same game you did in ATL without all those stars you took. GG :)
Kotoll
03-13-2007, 06:55 AM
Oh and Queenie lets stop boring the rest of the GMs. I will play around with BDML and see how everything goes. But honestly you need to get into a real league so I don't have to keep explaining to people who you are. And no offense to FoD or BDML. They are good leagues with good players. But they also have **** people and sometimes pansy rules to help the sad and pathetic. Leagues where people come and go. Where people actually abuse them and use two accounts to make a competitive team. Fun leagues with some good people and then some .
Join IL30 or BOTB when you can. Sign up on their boards and get on the waiting list. Stop playing AA and move up to the major leagues. Take those floaties off and try the deep end. Maybe you'll find your own shadow instead of paying one sim year GMs 5 mil for their top 3 pick. :p

Predicted final four:
Region 1 – Jmarter, Pittsburgh, Dabs24 – has a small market team playing well, Ssvinny may have too much competition in the IL30?
Region 2 – Kotoll, Phillies, WBS – lone entry in the league will probably dominate the series
Region 3 – Nyyanks NYY – IL30 -I hate the yanks, but he has a great team.
Region 4 - Mikeorav – San Diego – if his league survives he has the best team.
Most people aren't predicting, but want to see if they get out of the 1st round. My team started the season 19-7 so maybe I can pull an upset at the 12th seed.
How are your teams doing?
Kotoll
03-13-2007, 08:42 AM
Well my Philly team struggled a little but I should be okay the first round. Still waiting for the team against me to start their year.
My Florida team got off to a hot start. I was thinking this was going to be a close first round but I might blow him away. And same situation , still waiting for the other team.

Hmm... I'm the kind of guy who likes to see things for myself. This is a shame that this guy can watch to see how I'm doing and completely scout my team to know what he has to do this season, and meanwhile I'm stuck either completely in the dark about his team or left relying on someone else's opinion on how he is doing.

Texas Northsiders finished their year with 137 mogul points. We had an injury riddled year losing our young Pedro Martinez clone. I actually gave NYY (#1 seed) his 3 and 4 hitters who have both won a MVP, and his #1 SP. My supposed Ace lost game 5 of the ALDS for the 3rd straight season. You had the easiest draw. Your next opponent will be a lay up too. Barring you having a collapse like you did a few years back I think you will make it to an elite matchup with kotoll. (#6 seed SOUTH) SEATTLE MARINERS - lost in ALDS - 116 mogul pts.

Yeah, I kinda did a Shaggy ZOINKS! when I saw what plague was visited upon me. ;)
My team was wrecked in 2011 when I got 'em part way through, NO pitchers, period. I've probably got one of the deepest pitching farms in Winter and it's starting to pay off now with my current bullpen. I've gone from the 2011 48-114 Brewers whose park was re-named the Vomitorium, to last years competitive (only in the N.L. Central) 72-90 very streaky team. But we're getting better. 2 more months to pass my 2014 total of 72 wins, and I'm going to do it, and hopefully take back the #1 spot I had for most of this season. Young starting pitchers SU CK!
Winter League update: 8/7/15
Degadog LAD 72 - 37 1st in the west, best winning percentage in the N.L. .661%, a world series favorite for 2015.
Robinhoodnik MIL 54 - 56 2nd in the central, 4 back of Pittsburgh, bullpen solidified since 2014, starters tanked in 2015. Many players taking their first legal drinks! :D
Yentoman FLA 42 - 69 fifth place in the strong East division. Stripped team starting to rebuild.
French Red Sox BOS 74 - 37 2nd in the East, 2nd in the A.L., gaining ground back after an early stumble. (2GB of Yankees 75 - 34) Drafting machine, should stay solid for a long time. The other World Series favorite.

Is that the mark Taylor has to beat, or is your other team? He just won BOTB WS and posted 145 season 1...plus I think BOTB gets a 5 point bonus. What a matchup that would be.

I'll do my best to lose Kotoll's Philly for a fourth straight season in the first round so he can garner those playoff bonus points.

Region 1 San Jose Bracket:
We are down to three teams in this bracket. #6 Seed Dabs, Cincinnati, IL30 has won every contest by 20+ mogul points and awaits the winner of #1 Ssvinny, Houston, IL30 and #12 cmeden, St. Louis, Vampire for the right to cut down the nets in the San Jose bracket and represent the region in the Final Four. #1 Seed Ssvinny was rated number one overall in the tournament and is not disappointing. #12 seed cmeden is the Cinderella of the tournament and must have a mogul rating higher than 138 to face Dabs.
Keep an eye on the IL30 2010 season for this bracket. That season may determine who will move on to the FINAL FOUR! That’s if the Cinderella slips?
Region3 San Antonio Bracket:
This has the BEST elite eight matchup in the tournament. This is the only bracket where the number 1 and 2 seeds are still alive. #1 seed Nyyanks, NYY, IL30 rolled into the elite eight with ease with some strong scores, but he better do well in 2100, because #2 seed Ttaylor, Washington, BOTB is his toughest competition.
Ttaylor had the highest mogul rating of the tournament in his elite 8 matchup by scoring 172 mogul points. And his team isn’t expecting a let down anytime soon.
This is the contest to watch. Chances are the winner of this contest will be an early favorite to win it all!
Region4 St. Louis Bracket:
In this bracket the #1 seed was upset in the 2nd round as #8 seed Frenchredsox, Boston, Winter did exactly what he needed to do to advance to the sweet 16. Will Frenchredsox be the Cinderella story of the tournament? He will need to score a mogul rating better than 147 in his 2017 season to do it. The #4 seed Scooter, Texas Northsiders, IL30 has been impressive and is showing no signs of slowing down in his competitive league.
Cmeden is the only BBMO user that had TWO teams make it to the Sweet sixteen. He slipped by in his elite eight matchup. He has a great team, but his Washington will have a tough time winning the region since Bob’s enrollment is down to 25.
Odds are in favor of the Northsiders tearing down the brackets in this region.

It will take around a month to finish at this point in the tournament, so once every month can't work. You can try brackets or other board contests in any league. Right now if I did this again it would be next year or maybe 6 months.

This was a lot of fun Dave. So who is this guy in the finals against Taylor. If he wins he would have taken out Me, Vinny and Taylor. I say he should get an invite to BOTB next cycle. Wasn't it his other team that beat Kotoll too? Anyway this whole thing was a learning process and very well run. Next time you do this it ought to be an even bigger hit. Good job.
I actually have an idea that could be the next bracket challenge. I say we name BMO's best league by doing a league challenge. We could square off a bracket of 60 teams from 2 leagues at a time. We can figure a criteria that would make a league advance. like you get points for your league for teams advancing. this is just the start of a brainstorm that we can work out as this challenge finishes.

Great idea. If we can get 30 or 60 to commit. This did happen in the past, but the leagues were at 60 a day. I would suggest 2 48 a day leagues.
Currently there is a single elimination bracket in the 144 that resets every 5 year cycle (or every 10 days).:)
Cmeden is against Ttaylor in the finals and Kingroman beat Kotoll. I would say these two are definitely worthy opponents for BOTB.

I might consider something where each player can submit up to 4 teams. But I I think the slowest speed allowed will be 30. There are more 20's and those leagues are great, but it takes too long.

Daves this isn't like the IRL in that you & the BMOers have a SET deadline....so what if it takes 3 or 4 or even 7 days longer because of the "slowness" of the 20 days ? The point is that IT increases FUN & ACTIVITY!
For a 64 team format it is better,IMO,to have 64 GMs with 1 team & 16 leagues RATHER than 16 GMs with 4 teams each & 8 leagues ;)
The alternate is that you seed the West with 30+ simmers & do a best of 3 seasons & the East with 20 simmers with a best of 1

Just to let everyone know. This will restart with the new baseball manager online. You can enter up to 3 teams form leagues that you will be in. But the 1st season's mogul rating will determine your seeding. If you don't make the top 64 you won't make it in. Leagues that qualify will have 30 players and sim from 30 to 60 times in a day.
Hope to see you there when it restarts!!!!!!!!!!!!
