View Full Version : Data Bug (10.07) Wrong Player after clicking "Go Get"

Hello,
After drafting players for the annual draft, click on a player that you did NOT draft. Then click "Go Get". It will bring you to the wrong player on the right team. If you click "Go Get" again, it will bring you to the right player.
Does this make sense? If not I can go into greater detail...

Makes sense to me. Thanks.

When in the scouting screen, and hitting 'go get', occasionally the wrong player will be selected in the trade dialogue that pops up. This can result in me hitting the "Balance Cash" button and trading for the wrong player.
This happens maybe one in ten times, and has been occurring for years.

I've had that same problem! I just double-checked every trade I initiated using the "Go Get" button. If you click "Done" and then click "Go Get" again, it'll work. Just takes an extra unnecessary step.

If you sign a FA by double-clicking his name on the FA dialogue window, then hitting 'go get', when you finish signing him the remaining FA list will be mismatched. Double clicking a player in this state will give you the scouting report for the next guy.
The only way to sign multiple FAs without distorting the list is to make use of the "sign" button. This, however, is problematic since I rarely sign a FA without looking over his scouting report, which once open provides a quicker method of reaching the negotiating dialogue (the "go get" button).

danvail, that's not really the amateur draft list bug that was brought up, and which has been around probably since the implementation of the amateur draft.
It appears that if, say, Detroit chooses Batter A in the first round, he gets autoinserted into position X in the Detroit roster. In subsequent rounds, if Detroit drafts other batters, they sometimes get pushed into the same position X, causing Batter A to shift down one position at a time. Then after the draft, when the playing GM scrolls up the Amateur Draft list and double-clicks Batter A, what comes up is whoever is the current occupant of position X. As the other posters have said, it's a mild annoyance, and the cause for the occasional bad trade when distracted.

Those sorts of issues are best handled through interface elements though, in my opinion.
The original report, that's (apparently) a pointer issue within the program itself. It'll get straightened out, eventually. Pointer bugs are hard to track though, which easily explains (to me) why it's been around for a while. As long as we keep noticing it though, it'll get fixed. Ian's good at this kind of thing, it's just gotta break the threshold of his awareness is all.

Carload, I was referring to the same issue.
The screencap I took is NOT actually from the error. I re-created the visual manually then took that screencap. This was after that error occurred for the nth time, and I wanted a screencap to demonstrate my point, as it's somewhat difficult to efficiently verbalize the issue. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. I apologize for the confusion.
