Picked up this game in a discount bin for $5. I've never had a game where I have had to work so hard. It seems to be an early version (forerunner) of OOTP. It takes about 3 hours to play out 1 year. The biggest time consumer is in the offseason; signing coaches, free agents (this is not automatic, they get offers from other teams and you have to outbid them, win some - lose some) reviewing draft choices (there is no overall rating, so you have to read scouting reports and look at batting ratings and batting talent for each area, etc), conduct the draft and then make out a spring season training plan for each player (do you reduce their power to concentrate on better contact hitting? defense? etc).

I have it too, got it the same way, haven't touched it in years. I couldn't get the roster downloads to work correctly and eventually just gave up. :(

STB used to be the retail boxed version of OOTP. the 2003 version matches up to OOTP 4, IINM and they only made 2 of them, STB and STB2003.

I've now started playing this game almost exclusively. It is VERY challanging. BBM more or less starts to play itself after a few years, but STB takes constant maintanance to upgrade your team (e.g. trying to trade an expensive veteran for top prospect? Not in STB.).
