I understand the amount of work that has gone into the salary and free agent process, but some parts just aren't working right.
For example, in league 2002, as Minnesota, I had Michael Cuddyer in the last season of his contract. For me he was asking for over 40 points (I forget the exact number) for 7 years. After free agency, he signed with another team for 25 points.
If players are going to eventually accept much less than they would from their current team it really hurts the small market teams who can't afford a homegrown player at 40 points but can at 25 points.
I'm not sure what to suggest here (beyond the common request for signing players before their final year in the contract) but I figured this was a good place to rant.
