As much detail as this game has, I am surprised that the player does not have the ability to hire/fire managers. Every good GM needs a scapegoat when their moves don't pan out!

Maybe its Clay's intent to have BBM players be like the NFL, where every manager wants to be GM too! :)

In the CD version managers are simulated by the strategy selection. This seems to be missing from the online game. In online games, I've seen my closer enter the game when my team was 10 runs behind. I thought that was what long relievers were for. I've also seen my closer enter the game in the 3rd inning.
I like the idea of hiring and paying for managers. They could be rated for leadership, knowledge, preference for team type, etc. Then the strategy sections could be just considered advice from the GM to the manager, some who would be more or less likely to listen.

If it's not done like the CD version, you could have managers be like another player. You have to hire them from the free agent pool. Some would be into running, some into making lots of replacements, etc...
If we could make those mangers as ANOTHER human player, that will be more cool. That means it will have maximun 60 human in the league, and 30 mangers, 30 GMs, the GMs will get to choose the team they want, then they will draft the another 30 human managers.
Yes, the managers should be handled like players but with different characteristics, such as, knowledge, teaching ability, administration, tact, etc. (fun to work out) and then the GM could hire the kind of manager that fits his team.
