Is it just me or does it seem like there are too many injuries? i have several different games currently with BM08 and i just finished 1 year (07) on my latest game (multiple games due to different roster updates). i had probably around at least 5 guys out for a good portion of the season (at least 2 month injuries), and i had what seemed like a new 2 week or less long injury every few days. i DID go into league editor and tune down injury frequency from 0 to -10 but i dont really like messing with the league that much. i have v10.19 right now, before that i just had 10.13 the whole time i had it. i dont know if it is version specific or if it is just BM08, or maybe my team just had an injury-plagued season. but i didnt really seem to notice it being a burst of injuries once i updated to 10.19, and i know it did occur in 10.19, so its not like the patch fixed it.

anybody else notice this?

or is it just me?

thanks in advance.

Look at the real life disabled lists. Theres tons of players on them. I've come to think that people think the default injuries are a lot, just because they're not used to following the ins and outs of their team. In real life, a lot of players get injured.

If you're uncomfortable with it in the game, there's no reason you can't turn down the frequency.

I've found that at the beginning of the first year of a new game, my pitching staff takes huge injury hits, even wth young, healthy pitchers.

In one season I lost my top 4 starting pitchers for the season within the first 4 weeks. My position players are barely injured during that time.

Now I only see injuries of over 14 days, but still.... I was using my A & Rookie leagure pitchers in July :(

It seemed that I would have a major injury every week.

I could understand 1, maybe 2 "older" pitchers getting hurt, but young, healthy pitchers?

You do know how many "top prospects" have their careers ruined by injuries, right? Mark Prior, Kerry Wood, tons of Pirate dudes, Travis Blackley, Bobby Livingston, the list goes on and on and on and on.

You're (probably) overworking your pitching staff then.

this is the first year of starting a new dynasty.

I guess I shouldn't work them so hard in spring training? Maybe I'll cut off the golf at 9 holes, and limit the 12 ounce curls?

I agree that some youngsters can have an injury, but 3-4 on the same team, all within about 1 month? at the start of 2 different dynasties? As they say - "something ain't right"

You're overworking them by setting you're pitcher use settings to high. Actually, I'm guessing that you've left them all at default. When they get in trouble the AI manager tends to leave them in too long and occasionally skips you're #5 and even #4 starter to start the youngsters on short rest.

Look through the game log for each of them and I'm willing to bet that they have multiple games (before they were injured) where they threw a number of pitches significantly above their endurance rating.

ohms - they'll be happy to know they can continue to play 18 ;)]

I'll check the settings....

Here's a good quote from the original Baseball Prospectus article on Pitcher Abuse Points (http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=148&mode=print&nocache=1176149454):

The injury rate of pitchers, in particular young pitchers, is astonishing. Pitchers are several times more likely to get injured than hitters, and for every prospect that becomes a successful major league pitcher, a dozen more have their careers stalled or ended by injury. This is a reality of baseball that has persisted since the game was invented...

It can be frustrating when it happens to your team in BM just as it is in real life, but to me the injury rate is pretty accurately represented. As is your ability to mitigate it: don't abuse your pitchers. Or your position players, for that matter.
