what does the encyclopedia record? Basically everything that's ever happened in the history of your game. HTML pages for each player, team, leaderboards, etc.

You update it whenever you want. No idea how big it gets, haven't used it yet.

Mine has the entire history back to 1901 and seasons played up to 2020. It's 888mb right now. I could be wrong but I heard it only takes a fraction of the normal time to update it.

I have played from 1981 to 2027 and mine is just over 500mb. Updating takes a little while, I wouldn't call it a fraction, well I guess a very large fraction, but it doesn't take near the time it does to create it initially. Keep in mind that if you generate one for a different league it will have to recreate everything all over again for the next league.

The encyclopedia is initially built with all of the information that is in the game. So, If you start a game in 2007 and choose to load retired players when you start it'll record history back to 1901. If you do not load retired players, then it'll only record the time that you've actually played.

When you update, it adds files for every team and player that has changed. Since just about every player and team changes in some way every day that's simulated, that'd still a bunch of information. It's never as large as when you initially build it, though.

Yeah, good point on the start date and not loading retired players. The game actually calculates how long it is going to take before you actually start the output process. I have found that it overestimates big time, at least on my PC.

I started a game in 1965 and did not load retired players and it generated the entire thing in about 5 minutes or less.
