This is in the Game Log of the scouting report of a September call-up pitcher:

8209

At the bottom, the "Last 10 Games" portion is obviously incorrect. It is apparently averaging the number of pitches per game instead of simply adding them up, as the average number of pitches thrown is actually 118.8, and the game is rounding up to 119. Same deal with the number of strikes thrown.

This doesn't just happen with pitchers that have minor-league games in the game log; this is just the first place I noticed it. It's happening in every pitcher I bother to check.

I assume this isn't supposed to work this way because nothing else is averaged that isn't normally averaged, and at bats, hits, and so on aren't averaged in the game logs for position players.

Actually, I'm fairly certain it's supposed to be averaged. The other stats are more useful if they're not averaged, as you don't usually use AB/G, H/G, etc. when evaluating a player. For pitchers/strikes, how they do per game is much more important than how they've done in all.

It's always been this way, so I'm fairly certain it is intentional.

You're probably right, if it's always been that way. I'd just never noticed it before, and there's no indication of what's actually going on with the numbers. Just eyeballing it I'd have expected the average number of pitches to be higher than 119 in this case, and I had to do it by hand to convince myself of what was going on.

Basically, there's no indication to the user that it's a feature, not a bug. :)
