I have been involved in two leagues that have had the commish drop their team... This really stinks for the owners that have worked their tails off to build a good team.
I believe that some kind of penalty should be placed on commish's that drop their league. (Whether it be, not being able to start a new league for a month or something of that nature.)
Sigh...just ranting a bit!!!
Thanks,
Todd Cassity
Arizona - Downsouth Ballers (2002 World Series Champ) (Commish dropped league, so did everyone else)
LA - Champions League (Commish Dropped.... and i am 13-1 right now)
Atlanta - Real Baseball League (I am the commish, so the commish better not drop)

I have been thinking about this for a few days now....Coachcass must've read my mind. The "straw that broke the camel's back" came today and I just have to say something about this first. Without naming names, today, a relatively new GM/Owner to BBMO abandonded 20 gm's in "his" league....left without even a warning to the remaining Gm's...Why you ask?....Well the league had 20 gms and was only around for a couple weeks.....So why?......To start another league of course! (the grass ain't greener, the wine ain't sweeter, on either side of the hill). ..
Seems that anyone that signs up for a silver or gold account feels the need to rush into creating a league as soon as they possibly can. I am seeing leagues being created by guys that have posted on the forum 10 or 15 times. The league is run for a couple weeks (if it can even get off the ground) and dies off....it happens time and time again. Guys, there are PLENTY of good leagues to join that are looking for owners. Take your time, learn the game, develop some relationships within BBMO which will help lead to trust, figure out what your "style" of league is, and THEN create your league......

I think that the silver should be allowed to exchange their create one league or have 1 extra team for maybe $1 more on the credit card. I would like 4 teams and no creation because there are many league with the exact same options and the people create a league just to play as the yankees or any other big market team but that does not suceed because some popel jsut join to play as the yankees there are a few people who act like a certain New York city driver giving people the one finger salute (..!..) driving in the breakdown lane on a highway around NYC.

where the commishes that do this are named...that in itself should stop owners from doing this...i wish baseball mogul wouldn't allow everybody to start a league...make it where you have to be a member for at least 1 year(6 months...something like that) before you can start your own league...

Faulk,
Your idea makes sense. However, from a business point of view, one of the highlights of the game is the fact you can run your own league. In fact, many players sign up just to do that.
If you had to wait such a long time to be a commish, I think it would be very hard to support the game.
I agree that we need to do something to discourage users from just randomly dumping their leagues, but we shouldn't penalize the vast majority of new users that are responsible commissioners.

As much as it pains me to say it I agree 100%. You can't take away the option to start a league cause its a huge draw. I just wish some of these newbies would wait a couple months before starting a league...otherwise it will be doomed to fail just like every other.

most leagues started by a new player ARE doomed to fail anyway because nobody knows them...i usually won't join a league unless i know the owner...but my main point is starting a thread where the commishes that left the leAGUE HIGH AND dry are named...of course i realize there may be very good reasons for having to leave as a commish
