i think once i start paying for this game(and i'm already addicted)

i think that i could do without the harsh reality of baseball's money situation. i have detroit and have a payroll of 199 and i'm still losing money. um....that's just depressing. some inequality leads to realism and strategy but i would like it to be just a little more even (or balanced, i guess is the buzzword)so that i have a chance to compete. if not, how long do you lose before it's not fun anymore?

let me add something else. i am in fastsim 36, where it is May1 and a majority of the major free agents remained unsigned. that would never happen in baseball. yet a month into the season, sammy sosa and geoff jenkins have only dropped 1 point from their asking prices of 80/57. they should be dropping quicker to ensure signability, after all they've got ex-wives to support

I liked your ex-wives comment, very funny!

I think that shows incredible restraint by the participants in your game to ensure that their teams are run profitably. If the REAL owners managed that we wouldn't have the A-Rod's and Delgado's of the world on such ridiculous sums of money.

I'm in a similar situation where a number of top players were available in March and I had just taken over the Padres. Needless to say, my team had been pillaged by its previous owner, but at least they left it with a miniscule payroll. I went on a bit of a shopping spree and the team looks good with a payroll of 339. The problem is I'm going to probably lose money this year and proved once and for all I'm no better than REAL owners.

When I took kansas city (all that was left at the time) I cut down my payroll to about a 150 but was still losing money. THis is so wierd.

I've already been making some significant changes to the financial engine. The smaller market teams now have a bit more to work with.

Also, I just added a Free Agent system where ALL players bid on during the off-season sign with the highest bidder. I'm still working on Free Agent AI during the season.
