Hey guys,
I want to upload my BBMogul2k8 encyclopedia to a website so people can view it. Can this be done without manually adding thousands of pages? I guess I am asking, is there a simpler way for this?

I would have to think so since the coding isn't that complex.

Just upload the pages that you want. You will have to do the index file, and the folders for the team that you want, things like that.
If you really want to know exactly what to upload, let me know what and I will take a look at mine and let you know the exact folders that you would need.

Well what I was kind of doing was making an 'expansion' team for a forum I'm a member of and guys sign up for it and become the players of the team. So I wanted to make the player pages available. I guess I wouldn't need all the years, just the most recent years, the player pages and the team pages. Does that make sense? Would it still keep track of all time records and such?

Well you would need certain folders. I believe that the players are sorted alphabetically, so you would need the folder and the page of each player that you wanted to be able to show.
You would need the index page for the team as well, which would show the leaders for that team, you would only need the most recent one, and the team's index page to show the record over that amount of time.
Just make sure that you keep the directory structure in tact. You don't need every file, but to make sure that the links work they have to be in the same path, if that makes sense.
What I would do is output the encylopedia, then delete all the pages that you don't want, and then upload the whole folder to the web. That way all the links to the pages that you kept will stay.

Thats kind of what I am asking. Is there a way to upload the entire folder onto a website without actually uploading player page a, then adams, aaron, alfie, etc, etc, or do i have to do every single page individually?

Use an FTP program and just select the whole folder. It should just take care of it automatically, then.

You don't want to do that unless you have a whole lot of space on your web server. Last time I checked my encyclopedia folder was over 500mb, and that was a dynasty that I hadn't simmed for very long either.
It creates a page for each team for each year, a league leaders page for each year, and then an individual player page for every player that has ever played up to that point...
That is a whole lot of space.

The individual pages don't become much larger though. The biggest thing that takes up space is all of the player pages. If you avoid those, the encyclopedia won't really become noticeably larger at all.

Exactly, but if you upload every single player page, WOW

I'm curious, if I want to delete an old BM 08 mog that I'm no longer interested in using, how does that affect the encyclopedia file. I assume those old player pages probably stay in there. Is there an easy way to get them out? Can a purge job be run to remove old unneeded junk from the encyclopedia?

From my understanding whenever you output a new encylopedia for a new mog file it will purge everything that is already in there and replace it with the new files for the new mog file.

^ What would that do to the encyclopedia for existing mogs? Does it redo the encyclopedia (we need an abbreviation for that word) for all of them?

Yup. There's only ever one Encyclopedia. If you have two .mog's running or something, you'll either need to copy the encyclopedia to a temp directory or just output the encyclopedia from each mog file whenever you're interested.
