i noticed that the mogul points have changed.. where can i find an explanation of this new system?
just found it curious that i got more points for finishing 3rd one season than 2nd in a diff season.

The explanation of the new mogul points system is at http://www-1.sportsmogul.com/bb/Help/Scoring.htm

A prototype of the system was discussed in the thread at http://forum.sportsmogul.com/showthread.php3?s=&threadid=11232

hrm those bonuses don't look too friendly toward small market teams...

e.g. a rich team like arizona[+22] is only expected to win 4 more games than montreal[+26] each year?
in addition, all the bonuses for playoff wins/milestones are much much easier for big market teams to get.

perhaps on top of this base bonus difference, you can add in a multiplier factor for each team.. so that wins (regular season & playoff) count more for small market teams than large?

my 2 cents.

hrm throwing out some stats to back that up:
(just looking at wins.. w/o the extra playoff bonuses)

atlanta (regular season wins+playoff wins for the past 5 seasons in reverse-chronological order):
88+4, 95+0, 103+7, 106+5, 101+5
avg wins per season = 102.8

ny-yanks
95+10, 87+11, 98+11, 114+11, 96+2
avg = 107.0

milwaukee
68+73+74+74+78
avg wins per season = 73.4

kansas city
65+77+64+72+67
avg = 69.0

so there is more like a 30-40 wins difference rather than 10-20.

i guess this system works for the regular season, but the playoffs potential puts big market teams at a total advantage.

Regarding the Arizona issue, we have updated the city database so teams like Arizona do not have as many resources as in the older leagues, so the point bonuses are more accurate than they may seem if you are used to the old mogul point system.

Comparing the avg wins of a team like the Yankees against teams like the Royals and Brewers is pretty pointless. The A's are successful as a small-market team. Cincinatti has been fairly successful the last few years.

Also, Baltimore, Detroit, and other such teams have been awful for years, and they are in markets almost as big as the Yankees.

As a player who plays small-market teams in all my leagues, I feel that the points system is fair. A team like Milwaukee or KC only has to average about 75 or so wins a season to get an decent score. This is more than fair.
