I was wondering how you qualify for retirement as a Mogul without using Special Features.
I played 10 straight seasons and never onced used game save or play-by-play mode or did any commisioner moves.
But when I retired it said my status would be shown in gray because I used special features or something?
Is it because I used the "Find Players" feature or made too many trades?

special features? what are those?
what did you do during those 10 seasons? did you retire immediately after that 10th season?
the latest streak that i was in a mogul was into the 9th season, with 2 world championships. suddenly, a hard drive crash ended it :(
maybe the popup said that you did not qualify for the mogul hall of fame.

That's what he was talking about.
DontTreadOnMe, did you use a custom roster at all? If so, they are generally created by using commissioner mode, which makes any game played using them "unqualified" for the Mogul Hall Of Fame.
The thing is, the Mogul Hall Of Fame is for you alone. The MHOF isn't uploaded to the net, or anything like that. If you know that you didn't "cheat" at all during that game, then that's all that is really required.

I 'd like to see the gray changed or done away with. Most players seem to change something or other which pretty much insures that you'll never be a full non-asterisk member.

It's also worth noting that you need to go into Commish Mode to just simply change league settings in the League Editor. Sure, you could use that to "cheat" but sometimes, you do it to make the game more realistic. I'd be for the gray done away with as well.

Even Clay has never been listed in white upon retirement.

Agreed, & it is not as if if you cheat you are gonna "impress" someone - ie you cheat "yorself" essentially...

No I won three world series in 10 years and lost one, only missed the playoffs once.

Im not sure what you mean by custom roster.
I didnt use the orignal roster they started with, I made a lot of trades to get rid of all my higher priced palyers and when the season ended I usually signed all the best free agents available.
Oh Well, I guess its really no big deal, I was just wondering what exactly you had to do to qualify without the gray shade.
My OCD getting the better of me again.

Yea, me too.

Here is a screenshot of what it says.
This is after it says Congrats you qualify for the hall of fame.

Saving and resuming the game disqualifies you?!? wow...

Yeah, at the very least that requirement should be taken off. You mean I have to play straight without a break to get in...man, this game is harsh :)
Saving and resuming the game disqualifies you?
I have to play straight without a break to get in...
It does make some sense, because "saving and resuming" can easily be used to do something like this (http://sportsmogul.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=119440)... and really it doesn't matter because it doesn't disqualify you or keep you from getting in... it just means your record appears in gray text instead of black. Your score and ranking are still calculated the same way.
It's meaningless enough that getting rid of any distinction wouldn't be a big deal, but neither is keeping it.

Yea, exactly. I don't even try to use the Mogul rating system at all, which is why I didn't know about resuming being a disqualifying event. Still, I imagine that some people (such as the original poster) would like to use mogul ratings. As designed, the system is rather useless since it's pretty much impossible to qualify through normal game play. I understand exactly what you mean about saving and resuming, but jeez...
