Some interesting commentary on the centerfielder. This is what the scouting box said of him

2/3's of the world is covered by water, the rest is covered by Bake McBride.

Bake McBride is like a Black Hole in centerfield.

My Lineup and Pitching so far, after 15 games with a 9-6 record.
I have made alot of trades, havent used commish mode either.
Pitching isnt very good but hitting is excellent.
All games played in play by play.

You have a very deep minor league system.

You have a very deep minor league system.

LOL,, I know, I had to trade all my minor league players to get the lineup I have.

Playing a game just now, I came across this little gem, another reason why I like BM so much.

I never noticed this before, it says fisk hit homered over the Monster on Landsdowne Street.

Why is Mike Schmidt Playing for the Red Sox?

LOL,,, I traded for him.
He's turning out to be my best hitter, though in the scouting reports most of the hitters I have hate Boston.

Jim Rice, Dave Parker, Don Baylor, Bake McBride, Mike Schimdt, and Dave Winfield hate Boston.

Im not a true Boston Die Hard fan so I dont know the unwritten rules but Im sure Dave Winfield playing for them is breaking one of them.

I wanted to have the DH so I chose Boston for this year. Boston is my second favorite team, I grew up with the Mets so they will always be my favorite. (My family has had season tickets to the Met's AAA team the "Tides" since the mid 70's)

I cant believe the Mets let them go, Now we are the AAA team of the Orioles.
All basically over the fact that the Mets wouldnt come down and Play one exhibition game down here in Norfolk. Unbelievable.

Anywho, here is the trade I made for Schmidt, one of the reasons I dont have a minor league system yet. LOL

Well the first month is done and The Redsox had a great run. After getting swept by the Royals twice early on; they pretty much dominated the lesser teams.

But they have another 6 games versus the Royals to start the next month. They have just killed our pitching. One of the reasons after the first series I went and traded for George Brett, but that didnt seem to make much of a difference.
We havent played the other top teams yet either, The Brewers, Indians and Orioles(who's pitching staff is really impressive.)

Mike Schmidt has hit an unbelievable amount of HRs. 20 for the month of April, thats gotta be a record. He has had a 3 HR game and a couple of 2 HR games. He's also proven to be extremely clutch so far winning a couple games with a triple and walk off homerun in the bottom of the ninth.

Bake McBride, who Ive never heard of before starting this franchise, has been the real surprise. He has shown good power with 7 homers and outstanding speed with 40 stolen bases and only getting caught 5 times.

By the far the best base stealer Ive ever come across playing the game, I steal everytime he gets on base. I usually have loads of trouble stealing too, dont know whats going on with the 20 HR/40 SB month. Is it a Fluke?

Another thing Ive noticed is how weird the ratings are for some players.

Like my pitcher "Dick Pole" (what a name) who was rated 78 when I got him but all his stats were in the low 60's and high 50's.

And Don Baylor who is Rated a low 73 but has high Stats.
like so.

TWENTY HRs in APRIL?

That's....nearly one a game. Keep it up and Schmidt is going to annihilate the single season record.

yeah, thats rediculous, after only 1 month and there is already a player with 20 HR and another player already with 40 SB, bye-bye Barry Bonds and Rickey Henderson.

Yeah I know, I cant understand the Homerun thing, but I was planning on trying to get 100+ SBs in the season with McBride, I steal everytime he gets on.

And after getting shut out in the first game of the month by the Royals the Redsox have finally beat them.
Though the game was incredible. Having a 9-1 lead disappear pretty quick was troubling. Harmon Killebrew hit a GS to tie the game in the 6th. Was there anything they could do to stop the Royals? Thankfully the solid hitting continued highlighted by Dave Parker's 6 for 6 outing along with Schmidt's, Fisk's and Brett's 4 or more RBIs each.

What a Game, playoff calibur baseball in May. But looking ahead, with our pitching it will be tough to go up against the Royals (who I think are a lock in the West) in the Playoffs. Or even win our division for that Matter, we've been playing excellent ball and have only a 1 game lead over the Brewers.

Here is the box Score of that game. No Homers for my team haha. Another note, The Royals have scored a run or more in the first inning everytime we've played. Worrisome indeed.

LOL,,, what a difference a day makes. The Redsox beat the Royals again, this time in a 1-0 game that lasted ten innings.

Boston's Ace pitched a 10 inning shutout and Winfield got the game winning hit.

Well the Month of May is over and The Sox are holding on to a 3.5 game lead in front of the Brewers.
Against the Orioles they went 3-3 and Against the Brewers they went 3-0. SO they have faired well against other good teams. The Pitching seems to be coming along with an overall team ERA below 4.00.

Pitchers that suffered two week injuries this month were our Two Closers John Hiller and Mike Marshall, Jim York did a fine job filling in though.
Bill Lee is down for a month as well. And Starter Rick Wise was also down 2 weeks.
The 1st baseman Cecil Cooper suffered a two week injury and Tommy McCraw did OK subbing for him.
Other than that the Bench for our hitters is very weak, if a Player goes down for serious injury its gonna leave a big hole in the lineup.

Omar Moreno and Miguel Dilone aren't living up to their potential.

And in the Big News Mike Schmidt went into a Huge Slump hitting only 4 homers in the month of May after crushing 20 in April. He still leads the league but Hank Aaron and Carlton Fisk aren't far behind with 18 apiece. His average dropped from almost .400 to .323

Bake McBride, even though injured for four days, has continued to burn up the base paths. His speed rating was reduced from 94 to 89 after the injury and he stole 28 bases this month raising his total to 68.

Around the League Kansa City has a one game lead in the West. And in the National League Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are the leaders.

The month of May has been completed and it was a tough Month for the Red Sox garnering a record of 14-9 and losing the reigns on first place.
We got swept by the lowly White Sox and that really hurt. Also we got swept by the Orioles losing 1st place to them. The Orioles have a team ERA of 3.21 - the best in the Majors, and thats saying something considering they are in the American League with the DH.
Luckily we finished strong with 4 wins in a row against the Indians to secure a Tie for First Place.

Our 1stbaseman Cecil Cooper went down for the rest of the year with a torn ankle ligament. Its going to be tough to fill his shoes. We are looking to perhaps make a trade if the opportunity presents itself.

Bake McBride has hit into a Slump dropping his average down to .260, but he still leads the league with 86 stolen bases.
Mike Schmidt is still leading the league in Homers and RBIs with 30 & 83.

Around the League Hank Aaron has extended his Career Homerun total to 758.
Sports writers are buzzing about whether or not he will get to 800. But one thing they are in agreement with, is that the record ole Henry Aaron sets will never be broken in a 100 years.

Joe Morgan having an outstanding year collected his 400th stolen base of his career and is leading his Reds to a first place position in the National League Western division.

I noticed I was losing money so I had to revamp my Lineup and make some trades.

I got rid of two of my high priced relief pitchers and got some just as good for lower prices.
Also got rid of the injured Cecil Cooper for the Cubs Andre Thorton to shore up firstbase. And a desperately needed backup infielder was aquired in Rodney Scott.

Here are the trades,,,,,,,
We'll have to see how they work out this month to see what moves we may need to make before the deadline. One thing is for sure we will have more money to deal with thansk to the lowering of the salary.

The Month of July is over and we made some strategic moves to hopefully thwart the Baltimore Orioles.

We traded our rookie prospects Dave Steib, Bob Horner and Carney Lansford to get the Orioles Ace Doyle Alexander.
Our Pitcher Charlie Hough also went down for the year due to injury and we traded him before the deadline as well. We traded him to shore up our Bullpen.

The All Star game has come and gone and Our Players in the Game were,,,Mike Schimdt, Dave Winfield, Carlton Fisk, Luis Tiant.
Also making it were reliever who has since been traded Daniel Segui and Doyle Alexander who has since been aquired.

Schmidt and Winfield both hit Homers in the game and Nolan Ryan got the win in a 13-4 decision.

The Red Sox hold a slight 3 game lead on the Orioles in the East but with our newly aquired players the future is bright.

Our moves paid of way better than expected.
After the month of August Boston had an 11 game lead on the Orioles.
Most analysts are saying this race is over.

Around the league Lou Brock got his 800th steal and Frank Robinson got his 3000th hit.

The eastern division in both leagues are pretty much over with Boston and Pittsburgh with +10 game leads.

But the West is a different story.
In the NL the Dodgers hold a slim 1 game lead over the Reds and the Giants and Astros are 4 and 6 games back.
The All has the Athletices with a 1 game lead over the Royals and the Rangers.
