I have a question regarding the use of bunting to get in a run from third. Seriously how many times do you see this attempted in a game and how many times is it actually sucessful? It seems like whenever I get in a tight game, that seems to be the computers way to get in their guys at third every time, and it works almost every time. And as far as I can tell, it's not a squeeze play of any kind. I noticed you can call a bunt for a hit as well as a squeeze play when there is a guy on third.

Yep, Yama, I noticed it happens often, maybe way to often. I noticed early in playing BBM, that the safety squeeze is very successful, especially when you have a good bunter, so I use it a lot. Still havn't figured a way to defend against it and I've tried both "corners in" and "infield in", because I know the AI is going to try it, especially with a pitcher at bat. Just another of those BBM quirks, I suppose, that I've learned to live with.

I bring the infield in and it usually works great for me.

Okay great, so it's not just me that noticed it. Since I made the post, I tried it a few times. So far I found that it works just as well with "bunt for hit" so the squeeze plays are pretty much obselete because at least my guy won't be running in the rare instance that my batter would miss the bunt.

I gave this thread four stars because I think that between the lines there are two suggestions, of which I agree w/ both:

Give bunts a lower success rate when properly defended, and
Increase the chance of a runner other than the hitter being thrown out when executing "bunt for hit."

I just had a game where I was up by 2 in the 9th closing out the game. There was a man on 1st and 2nd. The next batter sac bunted the runners over. Then the next guy did the dreaded sac bunt to score the run on third. I guess they were banking on the next batter to get a hit but he ended up striking out to win the game.

Just another example of the poor managerial decisions made by the AI like Old Fat Guy posted. If your opponent was the home team, the first sac bunt to get the tying runs in scoring position makes sense, but the second sac (squeeze) bunt would never happen in RL, even if the hitter was bunting for a hit. With one out it is up to him to try to drive in both runs to ty the game, but never give himself up to make the second out of the inning.
If the team was the visiting team, the conventional move would be to allow all hitters to try to drive in those tying runs.
Conventional baseball managerial rule: Home team play for a tie; visiting team play for a win. Doesn't always work this way, but that's what managers do a vast majority of the time in rl.

Yeah my post was badly written the first time so I edited it. I can understand the guy bunting the runners over to get both in scoring position but I can't understand why the next guy would bunt as well.
