question about unofficial patches

So what makes a patch official? :confused:

The patch becomes official when it has been tested and approved for release. Meaning that the coders feel that it is stable and provides an upgraded value to the game itself.

Unofficial patches are ones that are still in the testing phase that people are trying out and then reporting back what they find. When making changes to code it is very easy to break other things or to cause changes that you had no idea would happen.

I kind of like the fact that they release the unofficial ones. Far too often things like this don't get tested properly, and the guys on the forum here can do so much more thorough testing thatn Clay or Ian would have the time to do.
