One of the best seasons Iv seen.
I played the majority of games with PBP.

He lead the league in Homers, RBIs, Average, Steals, Doubles, Triples, OBS, OPS, runs, hits.
And he's a member of the 50/50 club.

Unreal. He was obviously using steroids and his records should be stricken.

Man, almost 200 runs scored, over 200 knocked in, a 1.261 OPS for THE SEASON (Don't think I've ever seen that in any of my games) and a 50/50 guy to boot. Man, he may make the 70/70 club someday............

On a side note, I see all the playoffs, and it being 1988 and all with no wild card, how's George S. doing these days??:D

Were the first few years in play-by-play mode (player or manager?), as well? If so, it seems like something was editted. If the first few seasons were simmed (or played in manager mode), and the most recent was played in Player mode, all it is is a testament to how well a human can outthink an AI.

Yeah the other seasons were just simulated. I usually do play one month.

This season 88 season I did play one month and VanSlyke & Ricky Henderson had such a great first month I decided to play the the rest PBP. I played 90% of the games in pbp until september which I also simmed.

I was trying to get Ricky to break the stolen base record but as things played out he got caught stealing way too much and VanSlyke just turned into a Monster.

Nope and he wasnt manually created, he was drafted in the second round, #7 overall,,, no edits to the default settings either.

P.S. One thing I did do to help his stolen base numbers was, if we had a good lead and VanSlyke was on base with someone in front of him, I always double stole, even if Andy was on Second and a 65 speed was on third. Andy would get the uncontested stolen base.

And when there were two outs and I did that, Andy still got credit for the stolen base even though the other runner was thrown out to end the inning.

So I did "cheat" a little with the stolen bases, haha.

Another Guy on the same team is having a pretty remarkable career.

Jim Rice, in every year he has started he has hit at least 30 Homers, Drove in 120 RBIs and batted .310!

Oh and 8 MVPs & 11 All Star games. Definite Hall of Famer this time around. Poor Jim.

Yeah, Pitch by Pitch most of the time,,, occasionally Id switch to manager mode and use the just bat option, but mostly pitch by pitch.
