View Full Version : 11.04 Draftees disappear from Transactions Page after retirement

From time to time, I like to waste time looking at how my draftees are progressing or how their careers ended up. However I have found that in miscellaneous seasons, certain draft picks are missing. It is as if I didn't have a 2008 round 5 draft choice because I traded the pick away. (however we know that this is not possible) Can everyone check to see if theres are all there?

To reply to my own post, I have a theory. The guys disapearing might be guys that have retired but did not appear in a major league game so it might not be there for everyone. I am testing this theory now with a guy in free agency limbo who never appeared in a game that is probably going to retire soon.

I'm not clear on exactly what the problem is here, or how to bring it about. Could you post some more details, please?

Example: As you can see the 5th and 6th rounder from that years draft disapeared. It is my theory that the game "threw them out" since it is likely they didn't have an MLB appearance before retiring. (and unfortunately I don't remember who they were)

Here just the 5th rounder disapears

If the player's retired prior to playing in the majors, than yes, that's what happened. If you can confirm this, I'll move this out of the bug forum

Okay its no big deal now that I pretty much figured it out. I am 99% sure that the player not appearing in the majors is the case as all the players on still on the list have at least 1 MLB game. I will be able to confirm this for sure soon. The last guy on one of my pages "Jared Charlebois" is a free agent after never appearing in an MLB game and should be retiring soon. I will post the new screenshot whenever that happens.

Alright. After that, if this is indeed the case. I'll move this thread

I guess maybe it should be a suggestion then. In my opinion, I don't think that they should disappear, even if they have retired...

Well, the game is set to save all retired major league players. If a player retires, and has no MLB experience, the player is removed from memory...

the name could remain on the transactions page, just with the link removed (so you couldn't click on the players name).

POSSIBLY. The game has no record of the player's name though, once the player's removed. I'm fairly certain that the Transaction page is linked directly to the Transactions log of the scouting report of players, as clearing transactions from there also causes them to be rmeoved rfom the Transactions page for the league.

I'm certain that you're correct. My point though is that there's no technical barrier to changing that, really. Saving the name of a player who no longer "exists" (no MLB time, retired) would require a tad bit of storage space (enough bytes to save the name), but really in the scheme of things I wouldn't think that it would be that much space.
