I think the guys behind OOTP have a NFL game.

They have a football game, its called Worldwide Soccor Manager 2007. No U.S. style football game though, at least not yet. They have a hockey game and are affiliated with a terrific boxing game, called Title Bout Championship Boxing. If anyone remembers the old Title Bout Board game put out by The Avalon Hill Gaming Company, its that game for the computer. Man, back in the 70's, I spent WAAAAYYY too many weekends sitting at my desk with those cards and that board replaying boxing matchups and tourneys.

I meant Total Pro Football from .400 Software Studios (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/sports/totalprofootball/index.html?tag=result;title;0). :)

Sorry, my bad. I didn't know they were involved with that one. They sure don't push it one their forums or discs. (Whey you order one of their games on disc, they send you a disk with like 5 or more games on it, hoping you'll try and buy them too. The disc I got with Title Bout on it had 6) So I didn't know they were behind that one. Funny that they don't push it.

.400 kind of disappeared after Markus & company formed OOTP Developments.

Yeah, I was a .400 fan but it did plunder when the baseball game ventured by itself.

Try this http://www.dksports.com/football.htm

It's a little pricey but not bad.

I used to have a DOS game that I recall as being close to a text sim. The unique feature was a fully-functional play editor, not just a bunch of pick & choose elements like virtually every other game. Don't recall the name, though; I believe it was a version of PlayMaker (http://www.playmaker.com/).

http://www.greydogsoftware.com is currently working on a brand new Pro football game, If you be patient it will be out in a few months, since the game is still in heavy development there is still no release date, or screenshots of the game, but If you are interested in a college football text Sim then I would look at Bowl Bound College Football it's a great game. Just go to the website http://www.greydogsoftware.com

Here's another game you might want to try.
It's free. It's called UFL (Universal Football League).
It's over 20 years old. Was recently updated.

The one at Greydogsports will not be out until at least the fall.

Even though it is not text-based, Matrix Games has one called Maximum Football which allows you to play using American, Canadian, or indoor rules. There are currently no real-life rosters available, but just about everything in the game is customizable.

It's worth a look.
