So I was bored and looking through the transactions of the Atlanta Braves to find a player (who's name I just can't seem to remember) and I come across a player who spent the majority of his career in the minor leagues and only had four major league appearances. But, looking at his ratings, it's very, very high.

Compare this to Roger Clemens:

Does this make any sense to you?

Yes. Retiree ratings are calculated differently. Basically, it uses their Major League career stats and shows you the ratings based on (basically the single season average of) those stats. So, the reason that this guy's ratings are so high is because he has such limited playing time and in the limited time that he did have he performed well. That doesn't mean that those were his ratings before he retired.

There's definately something weird with retired Overall ratings though. Like, look at Clemens. 77 control, 87 power, 88 movement...that would never result in an 83 overall.

If your health is poor, your overall rating is lowered even though your skills are still good. Maybe the retiree overall rating includes a drop in health which caused the retirmenet.
