Does the amount you spend on your farm system effect the actual development of those young players already in AAA? From the help screen I gather that it only determines the quality and number of new rookies you get in AAA the following year. Is this true? Basically, if I spend nothing on my farm system in a given year, would that hurt my AAA player's development or just mean that Ill probably not get any decent new players? Any info would be great, thanks!

The money goes to a lot of things. Better trainers, coaches and amenities.

If you spend zero on farm the players are carted around in old buses without air conditioning. If you spend 100 points or more, the owners buddies lend their private jets.

;)

Seriously, the amount you spend on farm affects AAA players.

Deke,
Farm system affects the number of rookies you receive, the quality of rookies, and how well they develop in AAA.

So, if you spend 0 on farm, your current AAA players would probably not develop as well as on other teams, and you would receive very few rookies who were probably very bad.

Pouring alot of money into the minors is the way to go. I have built a team from expansion & every 3 or 4 seasons actually have to sell off some of my talent becuase the team is so deep. Not only do i raise a crop of stud players, but it is actuallty even a source of revenue by seeling off players. (I had at one point 3 second basemen & 4 first basemen designated as franchise players by scouts. I couldnt play them all obviously, so I sold off 1 2b & 2 1b making almost 300 points. The remaining players actually platooned & all hit over .300.) It only took 3 seasons into my sim that the farm started to pay off. since the 10th season, I have never had to go out to get a starting pitcher.. as I usually get at least 1 prime starter to throw in the fold.
