In the thread Managers vs. "Managerial Tendencies" (http://forum.sportsmogul.com/showthread.php3?s=&threadid=10756) the idea of managerial tendencies were brought up again. Managerial tendencies have been, and are, in the cd-rom game. However, one is only able to instruct an entire team to emphasis certain areas. The is no way, for example, to instruct a speedy lead-off batter to bunt for base hits more often, or to attempt steals more often, or to be aggressive on the bases. I don't want my Cecil Fielder like clean-up hitter doing any of those things. There is currently no way to give players seperate instructions.

Okay, let's clear something up. I'm not playing Baseball Mogul because I want a simple baseball sim. I want more elements of micro management in a game. I've waiting for years for Baseball Mogul to stop crawling and begin walking, even running. It seems though that the mindset of the Mogul execs want to keep Baseball Mogul as an entry level baseball management sim.

If possible, I would like to have a comment from Sports Mogul on this post to see if individual player tendency assignments are forthcoming and if any other elements of real MLB baseball, i.e.; MLB roster rules, will be implemented.

Cheers for now,

Ervin

There seems to be a tendency to keep the game very simple. I would liken this to movie studios dummying down movies so that they will appeal to a wider audience. It boils down to money. We are the five percenters that want the game to be as realistic as possible, with many micro-management complexities. Baseball mogul wants to attract as many customers as possible -- I can't say I truly blame them, it is after all a business. The only possible solution would be to have an 'advanced rules' option, but that would probably be a long way off.

I'm not sure that SM has the right idea there. I think most people that play the game DO want it to be more realistic and don't mind added complexity as long as it adds to the game and to the level of realism. Most people that play BBM are big baseball fans and like the game for it's nuances and complexity.

We are also gamers which means we are used to big complex games that require a lot of attention to detail and micro management. Look at the most sucessful games out there and they are all big complex games so I really don't see how simplicity is a requirement for good sales.

Simply put, Baseball Mogul Online is not designed for users to spend 2 hours every day on their team.

We have found that the vast majority of players do not care to have to spend so much time on the game to run a team, so if we do add these features, then it would be as an option, not a requriement.

There is nothing wrong with it being an option. Just as long as the option is available.
