I'd love to call this a bug, but I know what happened. *upset grumble*

Alright, since I thought this might happen and wanted to test it, this is a HoF screen from a game started in 1994.

Note no players elected between 1994 and 2001. The 1994 entries are historical.

Historically, between 1995-2000 Mike Schmidt, Phil Niekro, Don Sutton, Nolan Ryan, George Brett, Robin Yount, Carlton Fisk and Tony Perez were elected to the HoF during this time.

Now, the reason this happened is because when I first started the game, I didn't "load retired players" as I didn't want to deal with an 8 MB save instead of 1.5 MB. Because I didn't 'load retired players', the game didn't have anything to work with to decide on hall of famers until people started retiring.

For comparison purposes, here's an HoF from another game started in 1994, with retired players loaded.

So...not a bug I suppose, but I think problematic. I'd be inclined to suggest that the game either:

1) Auto loads retired players - or at least makes it default, with a warning that unchecking the box will save you disk space but cause problems with the HoF.

or 2) Loads historical HoFers from a file for five years after game start.

Yea, I know. This has been going on since Mogul 2006, at least. I think that it's always been that way, actually.

It probably needs to "load historical HOFers" for every player already retired when the game begins plus the AI needs to take a closer look at the players retiring in the first few years of the player game.

i thought this peoblem was caused by the ai simply not knowing who retired the 5 years prior to the year your game starts.

the player has to retire during the sim to be considered or already be in the hof.

effectively it needs to know who retired "last year"(before your sim start)
and include them, if at all possible.

Yup, that's exactly it...
