Looks like plan B is Carlos Silva at 11mil/year for 4 yrs.

It might not be all that bad of a signing. He's in front of a good defensive infield, in a pitcher's park. (oh, with a pretty good defensive outfield too)

Yeah, he may be overpaid but he is better that Weaver.

The Mariners just raised their ticket prices about $10 in each section to help pay for a "big acquisition". Now I get to pay $60 instead of $50 a game to watch Silva pitch every 5 days.

They may have used the "big acquisition" excuse to raise ticket prices, but, that's not the reason behind the raise. It's simple inflation, really. Ticket prices raise every year, regardless of acquisitions. *shrug*

That's economics for you! But at least they announced the "hike" early! Also it seems that the Silva deal is part of the make-over of the Mariners' to challenge the Angels - thus they still are very interested in Bedard.
