Jerry Naron Retires in Spring training, Johnny Bench announced as successor!!
In a surprising turn of events, Jerry naron, manager of the Reds the past two years and formerly of the Rangers, has retired! Almost immeadiatly after Naron's announcement the Red's front office contacted hall of fame catcher and former Red Johnny Bench about managing his beloved team. He agreed at once and scheluded a press confrence for 6:30 last night. Hears what the new manager had too say.
Reporter: Mr. Bench, do you think that you will be able to rebuild the Big Red Machine out of a team that has not seen a winning season since 2000?
Bench: This will be a challenge but it is acheivable. We have a great mix of young and old talent, such as Griffey, Dunn, Phillips, Harang, and many others. We also have a strong farm that will back us up for many years to come. It will be hard, but anything is possible.
Reporter: What about Josh Hamilton, do you really think that he has changed his ways? Will he be the story of the year?
Bench: I have spoken to Josh and have seen him perform this spring and let me tell you, if I were a pitcher I would stay well away from the strike zone while he is batting. He has 25-30 Homer potential and can hit .300. He has not played for a while but watch out for this kid, he has definatly turned his life around.
Reporter: What are your goals for your rookie campaign as a manager?
Bench: Obviously I am going to try to have a winning season, but i understand that this team has some work to do and around .500 seems like the first step.
Reporter: Good Luck Johnny, I'm sure all of Cincinatti is glad to have ya back.
Bench: Thank to everyone and hopefully this will be a year to remember!

Lineup-same vs. lft and right:
1. 2B Brandon Phillips 78/85 Power potential, some contact, only 25.
2. 1B Scott Hatteburg 76/77 37 year old vet decent contact and glove but little else.
3. RF Ken Griffey 81/82 Also 37 with 25+ Homerun Power, and some contact, but aging and oft-injured.
4. LF Adam Dunn 86/86 Young at 27, but has Amazing power and can crush 40+ Homers. Unfortunetly has low average and k's too much, but draws many walks. Potential MVP.
5. CF Josh Hamilton 25 years old, 79/94 so will become one of the best. Unproven in bigs but has power.
6. 3B Edwin Encarnacion is 24 and 83/93, so could be a star. Powerful but only average eye.
7. SS Alex Gonzalez, 30 and 81/81, low contact but decent pop and a strong glove that may turn Gold.
8. C David Ross, 30, 79/79 is powerful with great glove but not much else.
Bench:
84/84 Ryan Freel, could play any outfield and may re-earn his starting job if Dunn moves too 1st.

Bubba Crosby fast fielding outfielder
Jeff Conine 65/66 all around ok Outfielder
Juan castro IF Good glove no Hit
Mark Bellhorn IF with power

Pitching Report:
Sp Aaron Harang 28 86/86 A k machine and my ace.
Sp Bronson Arroyo 30 85/85 Broke out last year and can dominate with good control.
SP Kyle Lohse 28 78/78 An average pitcher with good control.
SP Eric Milton 31 75/75 A inning eater at times, gives up far too many Home runs
Sp Elizardo Ramirez 24 70/81 A young pitcher with potential, has better control than Milton, but like Milton gives up too many homers.
CL Dave Weathers 37 70/71 a veteran with little up his sleeve, likely will be replaced
Su Todd Coffey 26 75/82 This young reliever may be the best in our pen.
RP Gary Majewski 26 78/80 Very simular to Coffey.
RP Victor Santos 30 82/82 Versitile as he can relieve and start, but has a history of poor performance at both.
RP Eddie Guardado 36 67/68 Has a bit of k-power left, more than the rest of the pen, but does not have much else left in him.
Long Reilief Kirk Saarloos 27 77/77 Like Santos but slightly better historically, but not according to the scouts.
Down on the Farm just a fewstand out:
Homer Bailey 20 year old power pitcher could debut this year, 69/ 87
Bill Bray 70/88 At 23 a more developed but less powerfull version of Homer Bailey
Bobby Livingston 24 year old reliever may be called up. 70/80
Sean watson 21 year old 65/88 I think he is not as good as the scouts say.
Johnny Cueto 21 64/86 Powerful with 91 endurance = 200+k's one day
Josh Ravin 19 72/82 no minor league experience but has a powerful arm.

Recap
Overall are record was ok but I have no clue how I did it. Pitching was awfull and the Bats are going slow. A bright point, however has been Hamiltons 7 Hr's, one more than the powerful adam Dunn. (Just a side note, but the ML Leader in wins is Reliever Brendan donnely with 5.) Hopefully next month will be better or I may have to start trading.
Team Batter of the Month: Alex Gonzalez, 4HR's, .333 average, 20RBI's, 11Runs.
Pitcher of the Month:RP Kirk saarloos, 2.08 era in 13IP, more than two runs less than the next best guy, Lohse.
P.S How am I doing?

I would suggest not just doing monthly updated. Most certainly do them, but try to updates on how the team is doing on a weekly basis, or if you play a big series against a division rival maybe do a post for each game of the series to recap how it went, and then also a series preview and review for the series. Take a look at the dynasty link in my signature for more ideas, it isn't active anymore because the file is on my old computer but I think it was pretty good while it was active.

If you do get back to this, then I tend to disagree with the above suggestions.
Weekly updates aren't too bad. I tend to do every two weeks myself. Series by series though....almost never. The game goes far too slowly at that point and I don't think many people care that so and so went 0 for 5 today and 1 for 5 the next. The only reason I'd do something like that, personally, is if I only INTENDED to do the one season and was willing to spend three months on the project.
Pictures...Eh. Again, pictures don't do it for me.
RedSox, go at a pace, and with a style that YOU are comfortable with. Ten different people on here could give you ideas, and you would have ten different styles to choose from. I've been busy tinkering with different ideas for mine for awhile now. In the end, YOU are the one who has to be comfortable with what you're doing. Monthly, weekly, DAILY, the level of detail, pictures, all that's up to you. This dynasty is YOUR chance to shine. If the readers like what they see, they'll let you know. If they don't, who needs 'em? :)
