Contracts and managing

I'm new to the game. Do the players on your roster have contracts and do they expire? Do I have to worry about re-signing Pudge, for example? Also, can I manage the game? You know, decide to pinch-hit or to hit-and-run? Thanks.

As far as I know you cant coach, but there are parameters so you can set if you want your players to hit and run or if you want your pitchers to pitch even if they are in trouble or bring in a new pitcher and stuff like that.

All players have contracts and you do have to resign them if you want to keep them. You can also sign free agents and stuff like that.
