There are so many things I could say about Kerrigan's move last night, but the only really important thing is this: we may as well give up on the Red Sox this year because it appears Joe Kerrigan already has.

WEEI quoted Kerrigan after the game as saying he wanted to take Castillo out (after a mere 89 pitches) before he "tweaked" something. The guy allows two baserunners in 7 innings and he gets taken out when we are up 1-0 in what is arguably the most important game of the season. It seems to me that the only reason Kerrigan would do that is if he's already given up on the playoffs for this year.

Every single person listening to or watching the game knew Kerrigan had blown it when Castillo went out and Lowe came in. No hindsight needed. Either Kerrigan is too close to Derek Lowe to see this. Or he has given up on this season. Or both.

He didn't even bring in a GOOD relief pitcher.

Pitcher #1: 75 Innings. 84 Hits Allowed. 6 Homers Allowed. 9 Losses.
Pitcher #2: 72 Innings. 87 Hits Allowed. 7 Homers Allowed. 10 Losses.

Pitcher #2 is Derek Lowe. Pitcher #1 is Heathcliff Slocumb, the season we traded him to Seattle (for Derek Lowe and Jason Varitek).

WOW!! i was just looking at old post and things and i realized. My, My, My, how much things can change in less than a year. Last year me being from st. louis didnt know much abuot the BoSox but it seems that bostonians didn't even want Lowe to pitch in relief and this year he would probably be the ace if it werent for Pedro.

Just an observation, i doubt anyone will even read this.

Lowe's definitely doing better as a starter than he did last year as a closer.

Both Pedro and Lowe are competing for "Comeback Player of the Year" AND the Cy Young award.
