I saw this in the beta and it's still there. Starting pitchers are showing up on the depth chart as relief pitchers, even though they are in their proper place in the Pitching Lineups box. It's not showing up that way for all teams, just hit and miss, and usually it's the #5 SP. However, with the Dodgers it's Derek Lowe, their #1 SP.

It said the same thing for me with Adam Wainwright. He's a SP but listed in the RP.

The depth chart is nothing more than window dressing at this point anyway, to my understanding. It's something Clay will get around to implementing for real in one of the patches this year.

Well on the "Depth Chart" it shows Jose Rijo as a RP. And on his stats he's a SP. As you see below.

Has anyone else had trouble with this? Several of my starting pitchers--even those in the starting rotation--are listed as relievers, players listed as starters in the lineup are down in the middle of the list for their position, and player ratings appear to be irrelevant to sorting order. It not alphabetical or by age, either. It just looks completely random.
I like this feature, but it needs to be done right.
I would suggest that the sorting be done as follows:
1. For starting pitchers, first list the starting rotation, then non-roster starters by rating.
2. For relief pitchers, the bullpen roster, then non-roster relievers by rating.
3. For position players, the player in the starting lineup (by rating if platooning is in effect), then all other players by rating.
I don't know what other people like to do when soring by rating, but I like sort by current rating, and "sub-sort" by peak rating.

This may be an inconsequential bug but it has been occurring a few times in my games. As you can see in the screenshot, Luke Hochevar is the #4 starter the AI has set for the Royals. However, in the depth chart it lists him in the RP column, as the #1 reliever in the organization. For further information, Hochevar in this game has an 88 endurance and is predicted to make 18 starts and 20 appearances total.
Now this could be merely a display problem. The only thing I can think of is whether or not the AI might use the organizational depth charts to decide if the team has enough starters/relievers for trades/free agent pickups/etc. If that's the case, then this could cause a slight miscalculation on the AI's part during simulations.
Not sure if this is a bug or just how the game sorts the players. I have noticed (don't have any screen shots) that I might have replaced an aging veteran with a younger player with better ratings but on the depth chart, it will show the veteran higher on the chart then the younger player. Also if I auto-sort it will place the veteran back as the starter.
With the pitchers, it might be a similar issue. I have noticed that a pitcher I decided to put in my starting rotation is listed as a SP on the player card but is listed as a RP on the depth chart. I know after a while as a starting pitcher, the depth chart will show that pitcher as a starting pitcher.
Usually when I have a pitcher that falls into this situation, the AI might put that pitcher into the starting rotation when it does not have enough starting pitching that it feels is better then that pitcher, but once it gets a pitcher that it perceives as better, it will move that pitcher back down to the bullpen. Otherwise I have to force the game to keep him as a starting pitcher.
