Injuries and Contract Extensions

I was wondering if Mogul takes in consideration injuries when a player's contract is up. Example, I have quality pitcher who has been out for two seasons, but he is still asking for a hefty reason, even though he has been on the DL for a while--just wondering how it works?

I would assume that if an injury has lasting damage on a player, and their ratings drop because of it, they would ask for a contract that accurately corresponds to their new, lower ratings.
